"I'm jobless with no source of income , we depend on my husband who is also jobless , to buy basic needs in the house. I will not lie , when I received the second transfer , I had just been blessed with a new born baby . So I didn't have the strength of moving up and down . Through my husband , I bought a radio worth $60 and a television worth $140 . Previously, we would watch news from the shop at our shopping centre , I'm so grateful because I can get to watch news every day at the comfort of my house . My husband kept the remaining $330 so that he'll be buying food and basic needs for our family."

"I spent $50 to buy food for my family and used another $200 to clear my college fee. I also saved a sum of $200 that will help me start my own business once I am done with college studies. The remaining amount of approximately $150 was used to buy clothes for my siblings, my child and my own clothes as well. Things were a tough for us as a family before we received the transfer. I had had to drop out of school after completing my primary school studies due to lack of money to continue. I never had anything to do to earn a living except the odd casual jobs which were sometimes hard to come by as well. We all relied on our mother who works in an hotel to make ends meet for us. For a long time, we had not had the luxury of buying new clothes until we received money from GiveDirectly. I am personally very grateful to GiveDirectly for uplifting our family at an hour of need. We will forever feel indebted for this. I feel happy knowing that very soon I will be able to complete my college studies and start my own business that will completely change my life."

"One thing you are doing well is that you gave every house hold their transfers . For instance my mother and I benefitted separately . We have both done various development projects with our transfers , independently . This minimised a lot of possible conflicts . You have helped me to build a bigger house , and buy myself a phone , may you continue to help others too . I've not seen any mistake you have done for you should improve ."

"We used $250 to pay partly for a piece of land that we bought and used another $100 to buy food for our family. Another $100 was used to buy a bed and a mattress while we still have the remaining $150 which we are planning to use to buy pieces of iron sheets that will help us build a new house. For a long time, we had thought of purchasing our own piece of land but due to the nature of work that gives us income, this had not materialized until we received the transfer from GiveDirectly. Our children will now have a place where they call home away from the community land that we now stay in. This piece of land will also be of great benefit to us in future when we start business in it. As for the pieces of iron sheets, we made a decision to buy them so that we can improve our house by adding one extra room for our children. It is meant to create space for the bed that we bought and to the room shall be used by our three children. This will not only create more space for us as a family, but also ensure that we have privacy within our household. We are so happy and grateful as a family for the investments that we have been able to make as a family and even for the food that we bought in bulk- it gave us time to relax and have a peace of mind at home."

"On the day that i received this transfer , I wasn't feeling well , so I was having some rest when I heard my phone ringing. I was so happy to see that it was the second transfer from Give Directly ! Since my husband was not at home I called to share the good news and he quickly came home for us to plan on the expenditure . Before, we used to have a very weak and unpresentable bed , our mattress was so old . So I spent $55 on bed and $50 on a mattress . I then donated my old beddings to my in-law . We used to have old poor quality chairs , I used $15 to buy two comfortable seats . 2seats 1500. Our house was at the verge of collapsing and it needed some renovation . I spent $20 on cement to repair the floor , and $90 on a steel door since previously we used to have an iron sheet door . I have been keeping my clothes in a wooden box , I needed a good suitcase hence I bought one at $15 , I'm now using the old one for my baby's clothes. We did not have enough water storage containers , so I bought seven of them and paid $11 . We had never put on new clothes for a very long time , so I took $50 and bought clothes for my husband , children and I , I wish you could see the smiles on our faces the way we wore them ! I spent $130 on two goats , I now own three goats and I intend to have them multiply even more .I had a debt at our local shop where I always take food on credit , it had accumulated to $58 so I cleared the debt and spend the rest of the money on food ."

"I have no greater goal in life than to see all my children succeed. Being a single parent and jobless at the same time, where will I get the money to set big goals? You know everything needs money. Maybe one thing that I want to accomplish next year is to make sure that to of my children, who for their K.C.P.E this year, will be able to join secondary school next year. It will be my greatest joy to see my children complete their studies. I need around $200 but I cannot lie, I do not know where I'll get this money from."

"Before GiveDirectly came into my life, it's difficult to explain just how dire things were in my home. We were all sharing one bed for over two years, and further more in a house that had no roof. GiveDirectly allowed me to put a roof, fix the floor and buy a bed and mattress. GiveDirectly revolutionised my life, as it does so well for countless others. My prayer is that Givedirectly continues to help as many more people around the country."

"I would love to start a grocery shop business and sell Vegetables such as cabbages, tomatoes, carrots, spinach and potatoes . That would ideally be what I would like to do .I believe this would put me in the best position to better care for my kids and secure their future by being able to educate them well."
