Sidi
received a second payment.
"I spent most of my recent to support the education of our 6 children who are still in school both at primary, secondary and college levels. I spent $350 to pay part of the fee arrears for them. Previously, they had to miss classes due to huge fee balances something that was bothering my mind. Currently, I am happy that they are learning without any challenge something that relieved stress. In addition, I used the remaining amount to purchase enough food for the family since it had been over 3 years since we harvested sufficient food from our farm because of the climate change resulting in drought and famine."

Lilian
received a $440 second payment.
"For many years, I have desired to own a decent house for my family of 3 members. I spent $350 to construct a decent, 2-roomed house for myself. This is because I was living with my two kids in a small grass-thatched house that was leaking during the rainy season. Currently, I am happy that I reside in a better shelter. With the remaining amount, I enrolled my firstborn on school by purchasing uniforms and paying part of the school fees. In addition, I bought enough food and clothes for every family member."

Richard

"After starting dairy farming with my transfers, the goals that I have this year are to boost dairy and crop farming. Currently, I grow maize on 1.2 acres of land for commercial purposes and our consumption. At the moment, we are entering the harvest period in two weeks. I expect to get around sixteen bags of maize and plan to sell ten bags and use the money to purchase another dairy cow."

"This year, I'm focusing on farming so that I can get enough maize for both family consumption and commercial consumption. Achieving this means that I will be able to pay school fees for both of my children who are in high school now."

Kahindi
received a $28 sixth payment.
"I hope to have completed both the driving and mechanical courses in the next three years. I would not wish to depend on my father to finance my education as he is already burdened with supporting my sibling’s secondary school studies. My plan is to spend the cash transfers on college fees throughout the three years. Also, as I save for college, I intend to start rearing goats as they could help raise my school fees in the future when I sell them. "

Karisa
received a $28 sixth payment.
"By the end of the year, I wish to have repaired my roof whose iron sheets have rusted over time, which makes water leak in whenever it rains. The plan is to secure 22 pieces of iron sheets and other roofing materials first, then hire a builder to take on the exercise. Having already acquired four pieces through the cash transfers and my savings, I plan to continue saving enough for the rest. "

Karicha
received a $28 sixth payment.
"After the transfers cease in five years' time, I would never wish to go back to entirely depending on my son for my needs. My aim is to rear livestock and poultry as a form of future investment. Though a bigger part of my transfers is consumed by food, I intend to start saving for these animals. I would be happy if I acquired 5 hens and two goats by the end of the year through cash transfers. "

Katsaka
received a $28 tenth payment.
"Owning a house is one of the things I wish to accomplish in the following year and beyond. I feel like staying in the kitchen has deprived me of my privacy, which will be plentiful when I build my own shelter. My plan is to build a two-room house, made of mud walls and a tin roof. I would like to single-handedly finance the project with no support from my son since he has a huge responsibility burden of fending for his seven children. I believe that the cash transfers will help make this dream a reality. After that, I will venture into livestock keeping as a stream of income. "

Shida
received a $28 sixth payment.
"My three children count on their father and me to support their education until they graduate from college. As we speak, one of them is already in college, one is in high school and the other is set to join secondary school next week. I would be happy if they would study without being constantly pulled out of class to collect tuition fees. My greatest accomplishment would be funding their education to college without having them miss any classes. "
