"My dream as a parent is to see my children live better lives than the one I have had to endure. What better way to do it than through education! I will therefore, invest heavily in my two children's education by buying assets such as livestock that I can sell whenever need demands. I will also build a better house with an iron sheets roof top so that my husband and I can retire decently. "

"Receiving this money means a better and decent house for me and my son. The current one is old and the roof leaks terribly during rainy seasons such as now. I will also invest in my son's education by purchasing livestock that I will sell when he joins secondary school in two years' time. Lastly, I will buy oxen and an ox plough in order to expand farming hence ensuring constant supply of food in my household. "

"My life has greatly changed in that I am now living a health and stress free life. This is because I managed to get money that I used to educate my orphaned grandchildren, buy a cow for my investment, get back my land and now, I will be plastering my house. Before getting this money, I would always be full of thoughts of where I could get money to help my orphaned grandchildren as they all looked up to me to continue financing their education. "

With my GD transfers, I plan to pay part of college fees for my son who desires to acquire welding skills and fees for my daughter who is almost completing her primary school education. "My expectation in the near future is to be financially stable and be able to facilitate quality education for my children. I have a plan of starting a business. I believe when this business catches up, it will help me reach my other goals. One of them is building a more comfortable house that would help ease the usual days hustles. I am glad that Give Directly came through and brought the dream closer."

"My life is different now in that, These transfers have brought pride to my household because I have managed to resume the completion of my house. GD transfers helped me clear my children's school fees therefore I'm sure that their future I bright. In addition to that, I have managed to dig a pit latrine which I will depend on in future when the old one collapses. Before receiving these transfers, life was so hard in that my children could not upgrade from school because most of them could stop in senior four and drop out since I did not have enough money to cater for their education."

"Raising children as single parent is very challenging to me when I consider my gender and job status in our village. My husband divorced me nine years ago and I was forced to return to my maternal home with my children. Since there was nobody to assist providing my family's needs, I opted to start my own hotel business at Kidemu center. This business has not been reliable due to insufficient capital. Receiving this money means expanding my business in order to make it stable. I also plan to construct a good house for myself and the remaining amount will support my children's education."

"Lack of a reliable source of income has been a huge obstacle to my family's progress. It has made me unable to build a better house, educate the children and to provide them with proper nutrition. At the moment they are not attending school and it worries me a lot knowing that their future is at stake if I fail to educate them completely. This money is going to assist me a lot because once I conquered food insecurity, the money that I currently use in purchasing maize flour will go to education. Again, my husband will be able to save a few coins from his job for our future use, unlike at the moment where we live from hand to mouth."

"It is a dream of every parent that a child gets education to the highest level possible. It has been a struggle trying to achieve this since my husband and I dont have a main source of income. We mainly depend on agriculture and livestock keeping. The weather and climatic changes affects farming in this area. Most of the time we experience prolonged drought.I have 10 children and getting school fees has been the biggest hardship. All we get is channelled to school fees. This leaves very little to other basic needs such a s food and shelter.Though my two children have completed college there is still a long way to go since my last born is in pre-primary school."
