"I am a single mother that always struggle to bring up a family that I will always be proud of. I majorly depend on low paying casual jobs and investment in my life had just been an unrealistic dream since I mostly spend my wages on my household daily expenditure and my son education hence saving had just always been on hopes. I used KES 27500 of first transfer on livestock-a cow and a goat since these are my added assets and will help me in milk production for both household consumption and sale hence in the near future I will be saving money I could have spent on milk and from milk sale. I live in an old, single room, grass thatched house with my two children. even though this could be enough for my young family, having a bigger and more decent house had always been my dream. When I received my first transfer from GD, I used KES18100 on purchasing building materials-timber, iron sheets and nails. I am hopeful and certain that soon my dream of having a bigger and decent house will be possible. I used KES4000 to restart a merry go round that I had stopped after falling sick hence leaving with nothing to contribute. I spent the remaining part of the first transfer on my household daily expenditure and items."

"I have been living with humble and peaceful minds since I spent part of my first transfer on my children school fee and on building a new house that I currently live in. Among the biggest goals that I had for my life is to give my children good education and building a new house that I could live in order to have better comfort than spending my nights with grown-up children. I am a casual laborer and I always priorities my children education among my family needs since it is always my goal to see them a better life in future than mine but due to little wages I earn I could find my children being sent home during school terms since I could not clear their fee on time. I had also always felt uncomfortable spending my night under the same roof with children because I was not able to build another house due to lack of enough resources. I had always worked under a lot of pressure to meet this two goals but I am happy currently that I have humble and peaceful minds since I have settled the school fees for my children on time and have a better and different house to spend my nights in unlike before."

"Since my husband and I are still both young and vibrant, we have decided to enrol in driving and tailoring colleges respectively and equip ourselves with skills that will help us generate income for our family. The income will go towards food, medication, savings for our children's education and other basic needs. "

"My wife and I were forced to live separately as we both looked for work in order to earn a living and meet our family's needs such as food and education. She is currently employed as a cook in a school and am here working on the farm so I can ensure my family has sufficient food to eat while I sell the surplus to generate some income. However, the inconsistent rainfall has resulted in poor yield over the years and my wife's salary of 3000 shillings a month can hardly keep us afloat. "

"Since I started receiving the transfer from GD, I moved my children from a public school to a private school. I value education so much because it is the best inheritance I can leave to them. I always think that no one can rob them what they learnt; everything else can be taken away except knowledge and power. My goal now is to ensure they get quality education by taking them to good schools. I am now happy because after taking them to a private school they perform better. They can also read and write so well."

"When I receive this money, I will buy 2 bulls as oxen and an ox-plough. Currently I hire ploughing services for agriculture, but with the expectation of GD transfers, I will be able to have my own. This will save us the money we have been using and channel it into catering for other basic needs like education, medical care, proper feeding and many more. I will also buy household items like utensils, beddings, furniture and clothes because apparently the ones we have are old."

"I am a mother with a passion for giving my children a better future that relies on small business to raise my family needs. I have children in various schools and in college. The nature of my business is so engaging and require a lot of sacrifices to meet the goal. I take about two to three hours to get into the neighboring community land where I fetch firewood so that I can sell to earn a living. I spend almost twelve hours a day to earn a maximum of Six hundred shilling amount that is enough to sustain my family daily basic needs and children education hence I have to be there on daily basis to reduce the debts that I will incur if I don't. I am growing older and getting exhausted with my business day in day out. When I received my first transfer from GD I used part of it on my children education, household food and other daily expenditure and this has given me the biggest difference in my daily life. Even though I will go back to my business I have taken a rest since I have enough food and I have paid for my child in secondary school hence have fewer expenses to incur, I am currently relaxed with peaceful minds."

"Two of my children just cleared their secondary education and they are due to join various colleges over the next four months. They remain to be my main focus over this period as I try to pool resources together and be able to meet all their college needs in time. I am optimistic that with the resources that I have assembled over this period of time then I will be able to pay their school fees in time."

Therefore I will be able to save some money spend on maintaing grass-thatched roof for providing basic needs like food, Education and treatment to my family members."

"Receiving this money means I will be able to take care of my children's education needs. As I speak now, my children don't have school uniforms because I have not been in position to purchase for them. However, I believe this will be sorted when I receive these transfers. "
