"After losing my husband more than 15 years ago, life has never been the same. I had to assume all the responsibilities which has not been easy even after landing a job as a nursery school teacher at a local primary school. The little pay I get from the parent's contribution that is very inconsistent cannot take care of all expenses such as food, rent and education. Severally, my landlord has threatened to throw me out after failing to pay rent for more than 3 months. "

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money. I have a child in secondary school and more are yet to join but I don't have any income generating activity.
Taking care of my children's education needs is very hard.
I have had to lease off land in order to raise some money so that they can be allowed in school."

"The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of farm land.
I hire land for cultivation but which is expensive.
I am not able to cultivate as I would if I had enough piece of land.
As such, I do not get enough yields the fact that some times weather conditions also dictate on the quality and quantity of the harvest.
Whatever I am able to harvest has to be devided in such a way that food, education needs, treatment needs are met.
Hiring a garden for the next season also has to be taken care of in the previous harvest.
In most case, food shortage is the result.

"My top concern is my family, my children. My first born son is in grade one and my daughter is a year old in day care. I worry alot when it comes to their education and upkeep since I am the sole bread winner. I worry too much, when it comes to paying school fees and day care for them. I did not have the previledge to proceed with my education after class 3. My parents unfortunately, separated and I could not go on with education, I was left under the care of my mother and she could not afford to take me to school. Later, my mother passed on and I was forced to work as a houselphelp in different homes in Eastleigh at a very early age. I would not want my children to face the same struggles I had, I want them to have a better chance in life and in education."

"After purchasing the first heifer, I have a feeling that I should purchase another one as an additional goal. I have three children in school and I am foreseeing a future where I will be paying their school fees after selling milk product from my cows. Earning some money from the sale of milk will be a great boost to the financial success which translates to ease of school fee payment and general education of my children."

"My top concern is Unemployment because, I am a casual labourer and I depend on an income that is not stable. I go to sleep everyday not knowing my job security for the next months. Casual labour market attracts a lot of people and sometimes it's had to find a job even for a week. My children will not be able to attend school regularly and this affects the quality of their education. Not having a job has also caused me and my family to sleep hungry on different occasions. It is important yo have a reliable source of income that generates income for my family."

"My life is currently different in that I have been relieved from paying school fees after my child completed his tertiary level of education. This has enabled me to have other plans for myself and the family and to save more money from my daily casual work to make other family investments. I have therefore been able to expand my brick making business by hiring one casual who helps me in the production process. I am looking forward to building a brick walled house over the next four to six months. I know this is highly possible and I will work hard to make sure that I accomplish it."

"In the next six months I expect my life to change in that I will have more income from both horticultural farming and dairy farming and the increase in income shall definitely provide us with enough money to pay school fees and meet other family needs. We can be assured that our children are going to get the best education free from hindrance of lack of school fees and this shall mean that their future will be secured and we be proud as parents."
