"My life is different in that I now have my commercial house that will generate money in form of renting it off. This investment will relieve me from the suffering I have been going through of lacking money to use when its needed. Before getting this transfer, my life was miserable as I could not figure out a proper investment plan. I used to depend on farming where at times it was not reliable. This is so as the quality and prices could drop at any given time. Most of my financial issues were always left unattended. "

"My new goal in the next four months is to hire a farm and plant onions. At the moment these onions are on high demand from traders and their prices are really high. Planting them will enable me to get very high returns so that in future I will afford to buy my own land to settle my family because currently, we are sitting on a very small parcel of land that belongs to my father."

"I expect to make a few savings so that I can be able to buy modern seedlings and fertilizers that I will use during the oncoming planting season. Once that is done, I should be able to realize a a bumper harvest at the end of the season so that my family can be food secure. Before I started receiving cash from the organization, I never used fertilizers because their prices are so high that I could barely afford to buy. Going forward, I am even thinking of getting additional acres of land from people who will be willing to lease them out so that I can be able to add more farm production at the end of every season."

"My life has changed a lot because currently I am able to cultivate my farm and use modern seedlings and fertilizers which previously I could not afford using due to their exorbitant prices. When I use the fertilizers, getting a bumper harvest at the end of the season is almost a surety for me and that is what i am targeting at the moment."

"I want to buy a cow so that I will not have to buy milk like I do now. I am tired of buying milk within the village at exorbitant prices and at times I even take black tea because of lack of money to buy the milk. The advantage of having the cow will be that I will be able to sell the calves in the future in case I get an emergency of any kind that requires quick cash. Even if I do not sell the calves, the idea of selling milk to the residents of our village in return of some little money will also work."

"Currently, my life is different because I am filled with gratitude towards GiveDirectly for giving me money that I used to finally pay my son's tuition fees for his last year and semester in University level. He was now home with no hope of finishing his school. Initially, I used to pay his fees using the income I got from farming but this time, the production and prices were low and I had run out of options to get money to complete his fees."

"In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well send me money that has helped me resume the construction of my house though I'm still in the finishes level. These transfers have helped me a lot because prices of building materials had gone high and I couldn't afford them. GiveDirectly's approach of sending cash transfers direct to recipients caught my attention because we received these money whole-sum as promised. This approach eliminated cash scandals and fraud. In my view GiveDirectly has done well in my community."

"For a very long time,I have wished to own a cereals business within our village but I have not been able to due to financial constrains. This business is very lucrative in our community because grinded maize and beans are more of staple foods for our community. The challenge that most of us have is that the recurrent droughts have really affected harvesting and people can no longer rely on farms to produce these precious commodities. As a result most locals source for them in shops located far away from the village at very high prices. I am sure that if I set up the business within the village, I will generate sufficient income to enable me feed and educate my children."

"I expect to buy around two bags of maize so that we have enough stock of food which can last for more than eight months. Right now purchasing food is quite expensive because we are deep into the dry season where prices have really skyrocketed. I will wait for a few months until the prices go down then I will buy the maize in bulk and keep the stock for future consumption. For me, having enough food for the family is the most important thing before any other thing."

"I spent the money on paying school fees for my 4 children in primary schools. I also bought them school uniforms and bedding. The girls had outgrown the ones they had and the bedding had worn out. I also bought roofing sheets for building a house. I was living in a small hut and a leaking roof did not make any better for me and my kids. I also bought a cow worth KES 28000. I did not have a cow at all because I sold the one I had to pay for my medication when I fell sick last year. This left us with no other option other than to be buying milk for consumption at very high prices, worsening my financial problems."
