"The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of capital to invest in sugar cane and arrow roots farming. This could have supported my children's education once I sell the produce but since I did not do such investment my children had to drop out of Secondary school as I could not pay their fees. This has led to them being unskilled labor within the community and they can not realize their dreams. "

"As a group we decided to contribute some amount of money to be able to buy land, build some houses and then rent them out. That is my first priority. Money from that will enable me plan for my future and as a group we will be able to help each other. I can also invest in opening an electronics business for my son. He did not do very well in his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) examations, so I would want him to run the business and be able stand on his own.
Secondly, I want to invest in my exsiting business. I sell second hand clothes on the streets, I would want to buy new clothes and still sell. I can also open a shop( kiosk) and sell food stuff. Profits fro it will help me feed my family and pay house rent. I would want to start a business of cooking and selling chickens for people to buy.
Lastly, I would want to buy a screen. My children go to neighbours to watch television, and they tend to get bored at home without it, thus I would want them to have a screen at home."

"My first priority is to stop Hawking in Thika super highway where I sell sweets and refreshments to motorists. I will expand my business by opening a shop in Ngara where there are many offices and no shops that sell sweets and refreshments. My second priority is to go back to school. I dropped in primary level because I felt I wasn't good in class. I have come to realise the importance of education to acquire knowledge by joining part time special classes.
I will also invest in boda boda business by buying a motorcycle. I will employ someone and this will guarantee daily income because they are convenient and many people prefer to use them. This will help supplement my income because they are profitable."

"My top concern is lack of finances to provide for my family especially my child being unable to study. We all know education is power though in my context I feel like giving my child education is a long term investment and enhancement to his/her life since some of us didn't really have that opportunity. At the end of the day this is the only thing I can give my child."

"Financial constraint is my biggest hardship. This is because I do not have a stable job to earn me sustainable income. In this regard, I cannot provide basic needs for my children. In most cases we are forced to go without food. It is also difficult to pay for their education which has made my son to drop out of school."

"Ever since my husband died, I have been struggling to make ends meet while ensuring that my three children get the best education that I never had. The transfers come at a time when I have a daughter who is in college at Mariakani hence I will be able to pay Ksh 12000 for her tuition and Ksh 9600 to cater for the other items needed in school. I will buy 10 goats, 2 cows and a ploughing machine which will act as assets which I can sell whenever I have an emergency that requires cash. "

"I have five children who currently need school and my income is very low to support their education hence I will spend part of the cash in ensuring that their fees are paid. I used to sell juice and sodas but my business collapsed due to poor starting capital but with the transfers I will be able to revive my business. "
