"My first priority is to boost my salon business in Kiamutisya Village, Mlango kubwa Mathare. I am well known, and the population is high providing a ready market for my business. Secondly, I will support my daughter's education by paying her school fees. Education is the best gift a parent can give to a child, she will be completing high school next year and I want the best for her in future. Lastly, I will buy food for my family and pay rent for my house."

"My first priority will be to use rye money to start a new business of selling fruits. I want to open a small place where I can sell fruits, like fruit salad, fresh fruit juice and whole fruits. I believe I can get a large margin of clients with this kind of business. It will help me with my livelihood too.
My second priority will be to use the money to pay for my small sisters education. I can pay her fees and help my parents out since they have a challenge in providing better education for her. She gets sent home often due to lack of school fees.
Lastly I will use the money to relocate to a better house and neighbourhood. I always feel insecure in my neighbourhood, and this money will give me a chance to move to a better house and location."

"My top concern is my children. As a widow my major worry is giving my children a better life and ensuring they have a better education and even past where I reached. I would also love to take them outside mathare so that they have a different life than mine. I want them to prosper and be somebody in life so that I be happy as a parent. Secondly, my worry is health crisis. In my current position if my family members are attacked by any of the major diseases I won't be able to give them food medication and I always pray it doesn't happen ever. Lastly, paying rent is very hectic especially as a single mother and also have other responsibilities. The money that I get is not enough to meet all the household needs and one day I would love to have my own home outside mathare and give my children a better life. "

"In the year 2015, I lost my husband in a tragic road accident that left me with a fractured knee (I was traveling with him). Since I come from a humble background and living with about 1 USD a day, life has never been easy. Accordingly, it has been tough for me to raise my kids and pay their education fees though they are still in primary school. Hence, I am always worried that I might fail to educate them though high school and beyond due to inadequacy of finances. "

"Receiving this money means a financial breakthrough in my life. I will spend this money on cultivating sugarcane in large scale. Once my sugarcane matures, I will be able to raise more cash which I will use to educate my daughter. I desire her to attain the highest level of education that will help her to secure a good job."

"My greatest ambition in life is to see my children get proper education. I want them to have a brighter future through acquiring skills that will assist them in getting job opportunities in the near future. Now receiving this money will mean that I'll be able to clear their current fee arrears and the remaining cash transfer to start poultry farming. The returns from the poultry products will enable me pay for their school fees bit by bit for the remainder of their schooling years."

"My top concern is unemployment because, when you do not have any source of income then it is very hard to live the life you want. That means not being able to get income to support and sustain my life and that of my family.
Unemployment leads to my second worry of not being able to attain my daily needs, and that of my family.
And in the end my children might not get proper education, clothing or even better shelter and food. Unemployment leads to poverty as well as depression and stress."

"My first priority is to open a tailoring business and rent a shop at Pangani shopping center in Nairobi. I learned tailoring in my aunt's place and I will use the transfer to buy a sewing machine and materials to start my own business. Population in Pangani is high, providing a ready market for my business and I therefore hope to make a lot of profit in return. Secondly, I will use the transfer to support my sister's education. She will be joining secondary school next year. Lastly, I will use the transfer to buy food and pay rent in my house."
