"My desire is to have a food secure home. Receiving this money means I will buy oxen and an ox plough to help me plough my 1 acre piece of land because with oxen, one can cover a larger area at a shorter time. This will ensure a constant supply of food in my home and the money intended for it will be invested in other areas. I will use the rest of the money to open a shop and grocery at Chapungu shopping centre to ensure a stable source of income. This will help me take care of my family's needs of education and medication for myself. "

"As a charcoal burner, my current job has been very straining. I depend normally on casual jobs around the village and due to the nature of this work, my health has deteriorated. Am growing weaker each day and the little income I get goes to basic necessities leaving none for medical attention. Receiving this money therefore means I will be able to transition into a better job that can comfortably meet my needs and that of my children. I will start up a livestock sale business. This way I will be earning sustainable income. I want to ensure my kids get better education and not end up like me. Am struggling because I dropped out of school."

"Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy cows and pay dowry. For a long time I have struggled to save money so that I be able to pay dowry but I have always used my savings either to buy food or medical expenses to my little children because they go to a public school where they contract communicable diseases like measules so at long last I will receive large money that will enable me achieve this milestone. In our culture before I pay dowry my woman is seen more as a girl friend than a wife and paying her dowry will give me a sense of ownership and full transition from youth to a married adult. I will use the second transfer to open my wife a saloon business next to where I have my Berber shop. In doing this we shall be able to raise more money to enable us transfer our children to private school where quality education is offered."

"Receiving this money means i will be able to build a better house for my family. I will replace the leaking thatched roof with iron sheets and repair the mud walls because one side collapsed last month due to rainfall. Secondly I plan to use part of the transfers to prepare my two children who are joining high school next year by doing shopping for them such as books, school uniform and toiletries and paying part of their fees. Lastly, I will boost my business of making "mahamri" in a coastal breakfast delicacy here in Kenya. Previously, I would make them and only sell to my neighbors but now I plan to make a larger quantity and sell even in the neighboring schools. This will increase my income so I can meet my family's needs of food and education with more ease."

"My first priority is to save most of the money for sometime, money accumulated will help me pay for my education which is my third priority. My other priority is to invest in my existing business of selling second hand under garments, by buying new stoke and finding a suitable shop to sell at."
