How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that my grandchildren now has a better place to sleep and at the same I have a nice neat place to cook for my family. My grandchildren will never experience the sleepless night that they have been going through for so many years. There safety is also now guaranteed being that I managed to build a nice kitchen with a very strong door as compared to the first kitchen. I also managed to buy dairy cow where I will getting milk for my family consumption, I will not spend money any more to buy milk from my neighbors as I used before since it is very expensive.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very well by giving people phones because some of us have never own a phone in their life and this was a privilege to us. It was also a good thing that the money was being sent direct to our phone and not using third party for money to reach us.l am happy and pleased with their system helping the needy. I did not see any thing that Give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy building materials which I used to put up a kitchen which serves as a cooking house and a bedroom for my grandchildren . They used to sleep in a grass-thatched kitchen which was seriously leaking during rainy season and this was really affecting them so much because they was being rained on. They could get up during the night and move to a safe place within the kitchen. The kitchen too was very small that cooking inside it and at the same time my grandchildren using as a sleeping area was not easy. I also spent the transfer to buy dairy cow as my future investment. I thought of buying dairy cow as a way of investment since I am planning to sell the calve after the reproduction and spend the money to pay school fee for my grandchildren. I will also get milk from it for my consumption and also sell some to the near by market and save the money for my grandchildren. I spent the remaining transfer to buy one bag of maize for my consumption since there was drought last harvesting season therefore I did not get enough produce to sustain my family. This has helped to feed my family and lead a better life than before l received the cash transfer and got need not to worried about what my family will eat tomorrow.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this transfer means a great relief to me. I shall use the money to pay school fee for my two school going children. In addition, I shall be able to buy more household items since I do not have even a chair and a table.
