How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
At now, I'm concentrating on remodeling my house. I want to make it more stable than it is because it is a mud-walled house. By building pillars on each of the house's corners and executing some plastering, this will be accomplished. It will remain longer in this manner than in the current one.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Through its monetary giving programs, GiveDirectly has achieved outstanding success. Many people in my village have been able to better their lives. I have a major investment. Before, I was having trouble supporting my family because of how things were tough on my side. I haven't yet identified a situation in which the organization hasn't performed properly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I decided to invest in livestock keeping when I withdrew the money from the second transfer. I went along this path because it does not disappoint. After all, livestock does procreate, and if necessary, they may be traded for money. Thus, I spent $420 to purchase ten galla goats. This gives me confidence that I will soon have a sizable flock and that it will help me to support my family. Because of the harsh climate in our area, I preferred goats to cows. Goats can endure. After that, I bought meals for my family using the remaining money.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was relaxing in my house after coming home from my daily work of buying and selling livestock. My helper sent her kids to come to pick my phone since she had heard our neighbors saying that they received their transfer. I remember it was around 11 o'clock when he informed me that I had received my transfer. I felt very happy about receiving my transfer since I had never held such a huge amount of money in my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now happy after boosting my livestock business after investing KES 20,000 into it. I am currently earning a good profit which helps me in meeting the basic needs like food without much toiling.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 20,000 to boost my livestock business by adding the capital. Currently, I can purchase more livestock for sale hence earning more profit from the usual KES 2000 to KES 2500 per week. In addition, I purchase proper beddings for KES 11,000. This is because we were using old and worn-out beddings which were not comfortable and embarrassing when visited by important guests. Furthermore, I bought 4 goats and one cow for KES 18,500, this is a future investment for my family it will assist me whenever I faced an emergency that requires money I will be able to sell them. The remaining amount assists me in supporting the educational needs of my grandchildren which are in college.
