My new goal is to be able to pursue my studies to completion. Being a family man, I resorted to school based education where I went for studies during the holidays and whenever I have money. I have been able to continue with the school based studies in my pursuit to be a teacher. I normally work on holidays and the amount of money that I get would be enough to feed my family as well as continue with my studies. I am now more determined than I have ever been in my desire to complete my studies and it is one of the key priority areas right now. GiveDirectly helped me in meeting some of the things that would otherwise have prevented me from pursuing the studies more and right now I am concentrating more on it.

In my opinion GiveDirectly did well in making good their promise of giving us unconditional cash. The fact that everyone was given freedom to choose how best they were going to spend the money meant a lot for all of us. Right now everyone has been able to spend the money in a different way but the level of satisfaction is even all through. Never before had we interacted with any organisation that Performs the way GiveDirectly did. I did not find anything that I thought GiveDirectly should improve or should do better.

I spent KES 15000 to buy furniture for my house and used another KES 26000 to buy a dairy cow.The remaining amount was used to pay school fees for our first born child and we are so grateful for all that GiveDirectly has enabled us to do. For a long time, we have had the desire to own a dairy cow having felt the heat of buying milk each and every passing day. We were lucky that we bought a dairy cow that was almost calving and right now we have the dairy cow which has already solved the milk shortage issue with us. I am looking forward to the rainy season where the production of milk will shoot up and we can be able to meet most of our immediate needs through the sale of milk.

I had left my phone in the staff room while I was going to class to avoid distraction. When I got back to the staff room the first thing I did was to check my phone. I had both a missed call and text message but checked the message first and to my surprise, it was a confirmation that I had received KES 55000 from Give Directly. I was glad to have received the money, thanked God, and called my spouse to inform her about the good news. She was happy too.

I have made a great step since I received the transfers. There is so much that I was not able to achieve but through the transfers, I managed to. Sharing the household with my mum was not that easy. My dad had just passed on at the time of enrollment. Being the last born in our family, I had to relocate so that I could keep my mum company. By then I did not have much back in the rural. We had to use most of my mum's household including a kitchen. When I received my first transfer I spent about KES 45000 on the building materials (iron sheets, timber, and nails) which I have already used to construct a kitchen, utensils, chairs, and foodstuffs for my family.
