How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before receiving this transfer, I was sleeping on a mat that gave me uncomfortable nights because it was very hard. However, when I received money from GiveDirectly, I bought a mattress and new beddings that have given me comfortable night sleep. Furthermore, I acquired a cow that I didn't have before. This cow is going to help me in future settle any need that a rises like sickness and produce milk for the family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me cash that I spent for acquiring a mattress and a cow. GiveDirectly has not done anything bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase a cow, chicken, house hold items, solar, foodstuffs, a radio, 10 bags of cement, a trip of sand, paid construction labour and a debt that I had.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is better because through this transfer, I acquired a bed and 6 inch mattress which makes me to sleep well. I can also afford a balance diet. Prior to this transfer, I slept on the floor with small inch mattress and could only feed on vegetables.

The moment I received money from GiveDirectly, I felt very happy because of the unconditional cash transfer which I had never got in life.

I have spent my first transfer on purchasing building materials ( sand 1 trip, 9 bags of cement) worth UGX 332,000, bought solar energy worth UGX 130,000, paid labour worth UGX 110,000, paid a debt worth UGX 390,000, gift UGX 30,000, bought clothing/ household goods ( mattresses, bed, blanket and a bed sheet) worth UGX 276,000, Livestock ( hens) worth UGX 30,000. What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy cows that can reproduce. These will help me take care of future eventualities. Being a sick person, I can be in position to sell off some to cater for my medical bills.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I have a meal. This is because I am able to take my medicine and continue with normal activities of the day without any effect.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Sickness is the biggest hardship that I am faced with. I am a person living with HIV/AIDS and I am sick most of the time. I can not work as expected hence low productivity because this limits me to doing smaller activities for example thartching houses just to earn a living.
