My life is currently different than how it would have been had I nit received the transfer because I have a good kitchen. The previous one was old and grass thatched and its roof was always leaking. Due to this, I always felt the need to build another one I was unable to due to lack of resources. Also, I had not been able to raise the amount that I needed for its renovation.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well by ensuring that everyone received the transfer and I do not see anything that they did not do well.

I spent part of my second transfer to pay school fees for my children so that they would not be sent back home. Also, I bought a dairy cow as an added asset to my household that we can depend on in case of financial challenges. On the remaining amount, I bought food for my family.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have built a better and spacious kitchen. I used to cook in a small grass-thatched house before which was leaking and during the rainy season, it was a big challenge when cooking. I depend on casual jobs in the village and the amount of money that I get is small and only enough to gather for the basic needs of the family. I did not have any extra source of income to build a good kitchen house. My children used to spend the nights at their grandmother's house. It was so risky for them because of the movements that they had to make at at night. I could not welcome visitors to my home because there was hardly any space to host them. Currently, I have built a better and spacious house for my family. My children have good place to sleep as well as do their assignments. I also have a place to cook food without any interruption like before. I can host visitors without any fear because I have a decent house. I am so much grateful for the support because it has changed my living standards by a great extent.

I felt so happy the moment I received my first transfer. I remember it was very early in the morning when I heard my phone ring and on checking it, I just realized that I had received money from GiveDirectly as earlier promised. I had just received a sum of 55000 KES. I immediately informed my spouse and children who were so happy to hear this. After breakfast, we budgeted with my spouse on how to spend the money as we laid down priorities on what to spend the money on first.

I spent my first transfer to build a better and spacious house. I used to live in a small grass-thatched house that could not host all my family members comfortably. The idea of building a new house had for a long time been in my mind but I could not afford to build it with the little amount of money that I had. I also bought sofa set seats, two goats, clothes for my children while the remaining amount was used to buy food for the family.
