What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfers I spend part of it on buying a dairy cow and a goat. The remaining portion I spend on buying some maize for consumption as we had no food when we receive our transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly improve the lives of people with unconditional money. This was a wise thought with this organization unlike others which fund specific projects. Give Directly did not do well by leaving out some of the residents who should have benefited from the same project
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Now I got my own dairy cow which I didn't have before. Now the animal gives us milk which we consume here at home and the surplus we sell to have income. I no longer spend my money on buying the same an what I save I spend on buying other neccesities.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
After receiving the transfer from GiveDirectly, I decided to spend part of it on buying a cow which was worth 23000 KES. I made the decision since it had really been hard for us in our household to fully depend on the neighbors to sell us milk. We had been buying milk for such a long time and during the drought periods, it was so hard since even the neighbor who had been supplying us had insufficient. We now have our own cow and we are feeling good that we can afford to sell the surplus milk to the nearest school. I spent part of the remaining amount in the construction of a new kitchen since the one we had been using was getting old. We spent the last coins in purchasing of foodstuff for our household which include maize, beans, rice, vegetables, and other household goods
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I really thanked God when I received the money. It was all celebration that the long wait had finally come. We had been waiting for the day for such a long time although we were not very sure whether we would really receive what we had been promised. I saw the message from the service provider early in the morning which was confirming the receipts of the money. Tears of joy rolled down my cheeks and I found myself rubbing the eyes repeatedly in a trial to dry them up. We woke up with my husband carrying a book and a pen since we wanted to start making a clear budget on what to do with the money. Sleep deserted our eyes and I think that was the case to any other neighbor since we could hear the laughter and noises emanating from the nearby huts. We really thank God for opening another door of blessing in our lives.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the presence of a cow which I never had before the transfer. I have been buying milk from my neighbor for a long time now but I now thank God that I have my own cow. Nowadays I milking from my cow enough milk to serve my household and even sell the remaining to the nearby school which has now become a source of income. I thank GiveDirectly for bringing us this far.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After I completed my form four studies in 2016,life became very difficult. This is because my dream of going on with my studies came to a halt due to lack of school fees.I had a mean grade of C minus and I wanted to pursue a course in Business Management.I am the last born in a family of eight and none of us studied past secondary school.I lost hope in going on with my studies and decided to get married after two years.I am now a mother of one and life here is still hard because we do not have a major source of income.I still believe that joining college would have been a solution for this and it is still in my long term plans.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I wake up every day hoping that the day has something good in store for me.Since I am a casual labourer my day depends on the kind of work I get. When I have a little money I cross the border to Narok county and buy milk which I then sell to the locals in my area. This are one of my happiest days since I get some profit from this.Sometimes I also weed peoples farms.Generally I am happy when I get a place where I can work to get some money.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have a plan of buying a piece of land of about one acre after we receive this transfers. We are currently living in our ancestral land which is yet to be subdivided among us.There are many children in this family and therefore each one will get a very small piece which will not be enough for our farming activities. The remaining part of the transfer will be enough to purchase a cow and from there we can begin rearing livestock.
