How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I knew my house was not in a good condition, but then it was still habitable. Once i received the money, my priorities changed and one of being having a proper house, a house that would provide proper shelter and covering to my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a normal day for me when i recieved the money. I was doing my household chores and working in my compound. Because i do not know how to read, when i recieved the money, i looked for my son to help me read what message that had come in my phone. I was very happy that i shouted and danced.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference that i have seen in my daily life is that now i am happy. I am happy because i know that i will have a comfortable house and that i will host my relatives without worrying about were they will sleep. My house will be big and nolonger a 2 roomed house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have a house which is made up of 2 rooms. I am the only person in my family who lives here in the village all of my relatives are from different villages. When they visit me, because my house is just 2 rooms a sitting room and a bed room, the visiting relatives sleep on the sitting room. I want to use this money to extend my house to have 2 bedrooms so that now relatives can have a room to sleep in. I will nolonger feel uncomfortable that my house is small. I have already paid the builders and they will start working soon.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money means that I will be able to build a house. The house I live in is not durable and it's thatched with grass. With this money I will buy iron sheets so that I can stop changing the roof of my house every year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest whenever I find enough food for me and my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is not having a durable house.
