How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I am able to pay school fees for my son without any difficulty. He is not sent home for fees as frequently as before thus this gives him humble time to concentrate on school work.
I also used part of my transfer on boosting my vegetable business thus in an additional source of income. I thank Give Directly for having changed my life.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The additional goals in my life for the next four-month is to boost my vegetable business, I have been taking loans from our loaning groups but I want to stop because the monthly income from Give Directly is coming to the end. I would have difficulty in paying back the loans, thus expanding my business and making it more stable is the best idea I want to work on.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I spent my transfer on boosting my vegetable, tomatoes, onions, business,this is because this is my major source of income. Initially, I had a stock of Kes 3,000 but now I am happy and proud to say I have a stock worth Kes 10,000. My business has been growing day in day out because I have never lacked goods to sell like before. The number of people buying from my stock has also increased thus increase in daily sales. I have been in a position to pay fees for my children without any difficulty. I also buy food, we had never gone to bed hungry unlike before when I had not started receiving money from Give Directly.
Thus the biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is expanding my business.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My major work for the coming months is to stock my business. This will help me increase my finances. I believe through this I will be in a position to provide for my family with less difficulty.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Previously, my children used to be sent home for school fees frequently. This really affected their performances but I had no option because my casual job was not generating adequate income. Upon receiving this transfer the biggest difference in my daily life is that I was able to settle the school fees arrears and now my children are confidently going to school with no worries of being sent home for school fees and their performance has improved so well.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My goal is to see my children attend school with minimal disruptions. This would mean availing school fees for them when required.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference since I started receiving my transfers is that I have been able to comfortably pay my children's school fees. This was amongst the very had task to consistently do. Raising money for my children school fees was a hustle because my casual work never provided enough for both school fees and household expenses so they were forced to stay at home on several occasions.

My new goal for the next four months is to save money and pay school fees for my children so that they will be able to pursue their dream without any interference.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different than it was four months ago because I am able to always acquire food for my family members. As a result, we have been feeding well and there is no day we missed a meal. In the past, forgoing a meal was a common situation since we were always in lack. I have also been able to generate more income from the business thus I can easily buy drugs for my medication.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my additional goal is to continue to pay school fees for my child. He is a bright boy, therefore, a symbol of hope in my family. I take pride in meeting his academic needs because I believe that he is capable to study hard and make it to the university. Thereafter, he will get a good job and be able to support me in the future.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is owning two sheep and a cow. Among them, there is one sheep that has already given birth and my flock is increasing in number. I always feel happy seeing them grazing within my compound. In the past, this was a mere dream that I could not imagine would be achieved such soon.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect an improvement in my lifestyle. My business will be in operation then hence I expect my household's income to increase. Good management of my business will make it generate more profit which to a great extent will supplement my casual jobs wages.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am now in a position to pay school fees for my children in a more comfortable manner than how I used to do before. My daughter who goes to college in Mombasa settled so well in the institution and I am happy that she concentrates on her studies because I pay her fees right on time.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to finish a house that I had started building in the past but could not proceed because of lack of money. I will buy a few bags of cement and sand that i will use to plaster the house and erect a new roof.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have been able to buy a sheep that have already given birth right now. I know that it will continue giving birth into the future meaning that i will have so enough livestock in the near future. Right now I am paying for a cow that I will be given officially in the next one month.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I will have accumulated enough livestock because the sheep will have given birth severally and the cow will also have given birth to a calf so anytime I lack cash I will be in a position to sell out my livestock in exchange of cash. Apart from that, I know that buying food for my family will never be stressful because I will have money to spend on buying a balanced diet for my kids.

I don't struggle anymore as I have my own business, I was able to buy necessary drugs I needed at the right time and we eat well as a family.

I was struggling to make both ends meet because I did not have a stable source of income but since I started receiving this transfer, I was able to start up a business which has boosted my income and made my life much easier.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced and still facing currently is difficultly in raising 10 million shillings which my son needed as hospital bill for cancer medication and we have only been able to raise five million shillings.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening when am selling vegetables to my customers because i get income and buy food for family and pay fees for my son in secondary school.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
Am planning to spend part of my transfer on farming because it is my main source of livelihood and use the rest to pay Francis's school fees, my son who is currently in form two at central secondary school.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is, I was able to pay school fees for my five sons in secondary schools and colleges through the little income I was earning from selling maize and vegetables from my farm.
