Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I went to the hilltop to get network and check my mobile money. I thought of improving my home and buying a bull.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I used to work or dig for other people to get some money but now I feel we are one with my family and I don't have to suffer looking for gardens to dig for pay everyday.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought iron sheets, bull, fertilizer for my garden and have saved some.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We are seeking a piece of land that is in a safer place less affected by landslides. We plan on using about $833 to purchase this piece of land. We also plan on constructing a basic house where we can stay with the family in the place that we would have bought. We plan in using about $416 in the construction since we have most materials and iron sheets to reconstruct a house. Also we plan on purchasing a female cow which is worth $277 that we can raise and milk when it grows. We can consume the milk and also sell the excess for additional money into the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Basically we are only happy that we have life and no one is on the death bed in our family. When we get what to eat we be happy because we know that we are satisfied.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My wife is very sick she got hit by sand while she was trying to organise the house by mudding it in 2019. Upto now she has never recovered and finds it very hard to walk and even do any work around tye house. Her chest and back hurt alot and yet we do not have any money for her medication. The Landslide that occurred in 2019 washed away land where I was farming. Even in November 2022 the biggest position was taken from by the landslides. Now I have a big family and have limited space and land for digging and yet we need a lot of food. The other challenge that i face is lack of enough money to take all my children to school. My son Nabende Pius just joined secondary school in Bukinyala and he sat the term without fees uo enable him do his exams.
