How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
When the rural access roads project was going on in my village early this year, part of my fence was destroyed during the road constructions as they were being widened, and because I live by the roadside part of my fence had to be completely brought down. For a better part of this year, my compound was accessible to anyone which put me at a high insecurity risk. I was never at peace, especially whenever I was away from home because I knew that it was very easy for robbers to break in. With what I had left from the transfers after paying the monthly contributions to the merry-go-round, I would buy fencing materials in bits until I eventually had enough to fence the entire area that had been destroyed. As we speak now, my compound is once again secure and am very much at peace, all thanks to Give Directly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I had a cereals business sometime back, but when I got seriously ill months ago, it collapsed because most of its capital was spent on my medication and hospitalization that required a lot of money. My new goal now that I am better is to revive the business by using the transfers as capital. I know the project will soon end and I do not want to be left without any source of income especially now that I am not fully recovered from the illness I recently suffered and may require constant medical checkups.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am a member of a merry-go-round group that we formed to help us save part of our transfers for better use. When I received my share four months ago, I invested most of it on quality farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer. Even though most people in my village did not harvest much from their farms due to harsh weather conditions, I was lucky enough to have a bumper harvest. Right now, I do not spend on maize which has risen in price as my neighbours do. This is good news for me because my daily budget had reduced from what it was months ago when I would spend on maize among other daily needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
At the moment, I am at the mercy of my children who have to fend for me, which is after my cereals business collapsed when I fell sick. Having been independent for most of my life, I do not feel very comfortable depending on others for everything and I hope that this will not be the case in the next six months. I currently have plans of using the transfers to revive the cereals business which I can run within my compound because I am still recovering from my illness and may not be able to go to the market just yet. I hope that in six months, the business will be stable enough to take care of most of my needs so that I do not have to fully rely on my children for financial needs.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The age is catching up with me, and there are things which I used to do but I cannot do them anymore. For that matter, I am able to use this money to support such like programs. Initially, I used to look for money from other sources to educate the orphans I live with. Sometimes I ask my husband and children, but could not get money at the right time, this resulted to sending them back home for fees while their peers were in school studying. This was very inconvenient to them.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to start poultry keeping project, especially Layers and Broilers for economic sustainability. I have four orphans who are my brother's grand children. I thought of that because nobody knows of tomorrow. If I die now, nobody would take care of them and by starting such like projects, it will be easy to put a side some little savings for them.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced was when I was very sick and there was no body to help me since we had been separated with my husband and it forced my children and villagers to contribute money for my treatment.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I talk to my children as they find out how my day has been. This make me feel really cared for and valued.

Am planning to spend part my transfer on playing secondary school to my brother's son who is a candidate and repair my borehole and get water to sell to the community and earn income.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is that I was able to pay school fees for my eight children all though their education after we had been separated with my husband. I did this through my little earning when i was employed as a secretary.
