My life is different from how it would have been if I never received this transfer in that I bought a pair of oxen. I have already started training them to prepare my farm. I am certain that this pair will be very useful in cultivating my farm since they will be able to finish a bigger area in few days as compared tilling the land by myself. Planting a bigger piece of land will tackle food security in my household and also cut cost which I do incur in cultivating my farm. Secondly, I expect to pay school fees for my children comfortably after the expansion of my business which is nowadays not stable.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly made us feel involved from the beginning of its project since its staffs did intensive sensitization and made the efforts of conducting door to door visitation getting the right pictures of our level of poverty. Therefore , everyone in my village is very happy how transformed their lives have been. I do not see what GiveDirectly did wrong at its work .

I spent my second transfer to expand my small business . Thanks to GiveDirectly's empowerment through financing my business to be more sustainable hence I am able to provide part of my family's needs with the profits . I paid school fees for my four children who are in primary , cultivated my two acre of land and bought three goats. The remaining amount I have saved purposely for my business.

Having the two bulls I recently bought is the biggest difference achievement as of now. This is because the pair will be of great help to me in so many ways. One, they will really help me in my agricultural activities, previously I used to cultivate my land on my own. At times I would hire someone which was very costly and at times I could not afford it. It is now a relief to me since I will no longer hire or even till the farm since the pair is capable of doing it in a few days. I will also be able to prepare my farm in good time, and this will guarantee me a bumper harvest. Secondly, I will be able to earn more by hiring it to my neighbors. Lastly, the oxen will also help me in carrying water from the dams. I will no longer hire people to fetch water for me

It was around 5 am when I heard my phone vibrating. Since I am illiterate my spouse's assistance came in handy as he took the initiative of confirming to me what the message notification was all about. When he checked, he realized it was an Mpesa message from GiveDirectly. They had sent the first transfers as they had promised during enrollment. I was over-excited knowing my life will never be the same again. I knew there were several projects I would start that would totally change my living standards.

Their previous ones were old and torn. I then boosted my business of selling vegetables since it was almost collapsing. I used the remaining amount to buy enough foodstuffs and other items that I did not have.
