How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No, I don't have a new goal for this last money. My previous plans of building a new house still stands. My three bedroom house project has started and I'm hopeful of completing it this year. Living in a mishaps house is not comfortable for my family and I. So I decided to build a decent house for my family to live a comfortable life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe that all of the work GiveDirectly have been doing in our community is great because everyone in this town benefited from GiveDirectly cash transfer. Everyone was also treated fairly in the process. Nothing negative I have heard about GiveDirectly work.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used part of my last transfer to buy 80 pieces of planks for my three bedroom house. I bought food for the house and I have saved the balance money for workmanship.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was sitting under my kitchen resting after hold day of hard work when I heard a message notification on my phone. At first I was reluctant to check what message it was because the phone was a little distance from me. After a while, I asked my daughter to go and bring the phone for me. Surprisingly when I read the message, it was the mobile money message from GiveDirectly that we long been waiting for. I immediately told my wife about it and we decided that the next day I should go and cash it out, that which I did the next day. I was really happy as this is the first time in my life to receive such an amount of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Through the recent transfer, I was able to cut down the trees on my farm. I no longer worry about the cutting down of trees on my farm because the first transfer has helped me achieved that. My children are in school without any worry because their tuitions have been fully paid from this recent payment I received from GiveDirectly. As seeing, I am currently living in a thatched house. I am now going to be able to change the thatch to zinc from the transfers GiveDirectly is giving me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
From this first transfer, I was able to pay my children's school fees, buy one bundle of zinc, and hire contractors to cut down the trees on my farm. I was really worried about where to get money to pay contractors to work on my farm especially the felling of the trees on my farm. I am really grateful to GiveDirectly for this opportunity.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I am the only bread winner for my family since my husband and I divorced nine years ago. My children and I live in a house with old zinc which can leak during the rainy season causing us not to sleep in peace. Because of my low income generation as a single mother, I am unable to pay school fees for all of my children. Because of this, one of my children is not in school currently. When I receive this cash transfer, I will use portion of it to renovate my house and the balance to send my children to school".
What is the happiest part of your day?
I was recently happy during the closing of the last academic year when all of my children were promoted to their next classes.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"My family and I depend on subsistence farming (plant rice and cassava) which enables us to generate income for the family. For some years we are not able to make large-scale farm because I'm alone and have no money. My family income has reduced because of this reason. Therefore, my challenge currently is lack of finance".
