What does receiving this money mean to you?
For a long time I have depended on my sons to provide me with milk for my household use. This is because I am sick and cannot engage in any casual labour for pay. Sometimes they fail and I do not have any milk for my ailing body. I am planning to buy a dairy cow with money I am going to receive from GiveDirectly. Receiving this money means independence and ownership of cattle. This means with money I get from selling surplus milk, I am going take care of other household needs with the most important of which is medication for my asthma disease. This is the life I have desired to live for a long time and I am going to see it happen thanks to GiveDirectly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am suffering from asthma. This sickness has subjected me to so much pain more so throughout the night everyday due to cold. The happiest part of my day is in the morning when the sun is risen. I enjoy this moment because I get exposure to warmth that come with the rising sun. This relieves my chest pains.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have been asthmatic for more than fifty years now, a condition I've had since childhood. The sickness has recently deteriorated to the extent that I am now bedridden and cannot get out of bed on my own. I could not seek preventive medication before because of the state of poverty I am in. I do not have properties to sell even at the moment so as to seek proper medical check up and treatment. I am hopeless and everything is now up to chance. This is the biggest hardship I've faced in my life. My earnest prayer is trusting God for a restoration of health.
