How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the transfer i could not have managed to buy oxen and I am sure I could still be hiring oxen from people and this was very expensive.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very well by giving money to the right people without any corruption. It was a good idea of give people nonrefundable money because of the people are very poor that they could not afford to repay it back.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy oxen for cultivating my farm. I thought of buying oxen because I have been having difficulty when it comes to plough season because I have to wait for other people to complete tilling there land before I could hire them to till my land and sometimes getting money to pay for hiring the oxen also becomes a big challenge. This normally leads to late caltivation resulting to poor harvest. Since I bought my oxen I am able to till my farm in time and get enough produce. I also no longer spend money to hire people's oxen to work on my farm as I used to do before. I also spent the transfer to buy iron sheets as I am planning to put up a spacious since I am currently staying in a very small house where l am not comfortable. I also spent the transfer to buy three bags of maize for my consumption since I did not get enough harvest last season because there was alot if drought. The remaining balance I spent to buy food stuffs for my family consumption and by that time my family was feeding on a well balanced diet.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means my dream of taking my son to Nyangoma technical training institute next year is valid. I plan pay his college fees so that he can be an electrician at the end of the course.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when sharing meals with my children together.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life was losing my husband. I found it difficult to continue with sugar cane farming since I could not pay labor and buy farm inputs the way my late husband used to do. This has left me without any source of income, I also do not have a shoulder to lean on at times of difficulty.
