How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! I do not have any new goals. I am so excited to have met the eligibility requirements for this program. I have always dreamed of changing the roof of my house to iron roofing sheets and going into Livestock farming. Having thatch roofing over my house is so embarrassing. During the rainy season we suffer. The roof always leaks. This condition cause me, my wife and the kids to always experience illness. Moreover, I have to change the thatch roofing every year or two so that the leakage won't be more. Furthermore, the Livestock farming would be a great way to continue sustaining my family when GiveDirectly leaves. I will be able to sell my goat. Right now I have two goats; Male and Female. I am expecting the Female goat to give me kids. Meanwhile, a fully grown goat is now around USD $80 to 90 dollars. Imagine in two years if my Female goat give me more kids, I will be able to sell and always have money to provide for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has been doing well with helping the poor decide how to improve their lives. Giving that decision making power back to recipients has been something so daring and they have done and achieve that very well. Interestingly, I do not see anything that they are not doing well. I am grateful to God that my village was selected amongst the many. This guesture will never be forgotten by me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
For my last transfer, I had to travel to Monrovia because I wanted to spend my money there. I bought some school materials and paid my children school fees. I have five children. Four of my Children are in Monrovia to get better education. Recently, they had some difficulties with school. Right in that time, I received my last transfer. Therefore, I had to travel to Monrovia to sort that out quickly. And I did! bought some school materials and paid their School fees. I also bought some iron roofing sheets (Zinc) to change the roof over my house and some food and food items. I am so overwhelmed with Joy to be financially empower by GiveDirectly to bring these goals to reality. It has been a dream for me. My wife and I are so grateful to all of you. I wake up every morning and walk around my house and feel so happy. I visit my Livestock farming and just beam with Joy for what the future will bring.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No! Like I told you the last transfer period, Imy only goal is to have a Livestock and change the roof of my house. These goals still remains the same today until after all of my transfers. The condition of the roof of my house is totally bad. The rainy season is fast approaching. A month or two from now. I have to speed up to have the roof of my house fix so that the rain will not embarrass me and my family. I also want to have a Livestock business to sustain me and my family after GiveDirectly should have departed this village. My family has been suffering from the rains. My kids would fall sick regularly due to cold. I don't want that to ever happen again. That's why my Livestock business will keep me earning money when GiveDirectly is no more. Meanwhile, I am so happy for this program. It is so unique. It allows villagers to decide their own future. This is something very much uncommon in Liberia amongst NGO. I hope by the end of my transfer, I should have met my goals.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has been doing everything well. They are a fair institution. GiveDirectly do not discriminate. They do not choose what to do for you, instead you decide your own future with what they give you. Moreover, I feel blessed and is everyday about this great guesture from GiveDirectly. I can not lay my thoughts on what GiveDirectly is not doing well currently. If I do I will honestly tell you. God bless GiveDirectly and all of you the staffs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the second transfer, I was able to buy a set of kid (Babies Goats). With this third transfer, I bought a Nanny goat. I also send some money to my children in Monrovia for school fees and up keep and saved the rest for my reroofing project. In the future, the Nanny goat will multiply and give me more kids. Once they are grown, they too will give me more kids and so one and so on. I will then sell the goats to sustain my family. This will be my source of income after GiveDirectly is gone. Our living condition has been bad. Notwithstanding, the roof of my house is actually leaking beyond repair. I need to change the thatch to Zinc. That has been my biggest goal and starting a Livestock business. I am so glad that these dreams are coming to actuality gradually. As you can see, I am building the fans for my goats and here is the Nanny and the kids Goats. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for this assistance. God will surely bless them.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes! I have a new goal. I am so overwhelmed to be enrolled into this program. It is a relief for me and a chance to meet my goal. In the past, I have been dreaming of getting finance to change the roof of my house. The roof currently is so shameful. I have my wife and some of my kids living in a condition that I am not happy with as a husband and father. I also have two of my kids in Monrovia getting better education. The condition of the roof is like sleeping outside in the cold and rain. My goals were to change the roof of my house, raise money to pay my kids school fees and give my family a better living condition. Interestingly, GiveDirectly cash transfer program came to my village and I was enrolled into this program. That act has has given me hope beyond what I had. My new goal is to now have sustainability for my family. How am going to do it; I have purchased two goats. A male and female. These goats am hoping will give me a herd of kids that when grown, I can sell and take care of my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Wow! GiveDirectly has display integrity to the letter. This act is shown in their staffs daily. The staffs are polite in how they speak to me and members of my village. This is something that they have done very well. Moreover, GiveDirectly has always kept their promise of sending us transfer unconditionally. I am so happy for this guesture from an NGO with different road map in their scoop of operations. Finally, I haven't seen anything that GiveDirectly has not been doing well. I hope they are around even Longer than they say they would.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought one bundle of iron roofing sheets to change the roof of my house, a mattress for my wife and I and the kids here with me, a set of goats to start selling cattles and I send 7,500 LRD to my other kids in Monrovia who are there going to school to help with their up keep. It has been very difficult trying to maintain my family with no source of income. The condition of the roof of my house is so very bad while my kids in Monrovia depends on me to support their education in the city. This is something that has been stressing me out a lot. However, I feel so satisfy now that I am going to have a source of income for the family soon in the future. It's amazing how life has changed with the entrance of GiveDirectly into my village. I have been able to buy a bundle of iron roofing sheets, a pair of goats and send some money to my kids for their up keep. I believe after my last transfer, I am going to have a permanent source of income for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am tired of going to the swamp every year to cut thatch for the house. It is stressful and time consuming. My house is currently leaking. This is why i have planned to change the roof with corrugated sheets since two years ago. But i have not been able due to lack of money and other family problems. Therefore, receiving this transfer, i am able to have my dream of changing my roof with corrugated sheets to ease my worries of changing thatch yearly.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In Sptember of this year , i heard that GiveDirectly was giving helping hand to peopel to help themselves in some part of Rivercess. A month ago, i saw them in my district. This made me over joyed that i continued to thank God. It became more joyful when my friends received their first transfer.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My children are currently in Monrovia with my mother Julia Zodehgar. Now that school has opened, i need money to get them registered . I usuall cut palms to make oil and sell to support them. But this year i was not able due to the rain. So, my current challenge is the lack of money to register my children in school and buy their food.
