If it were not for GD coming to my village In wold have now been owning the dairy cow that I am currently keeping in my compound. I have been yearning to own it for years but I could not buy it at my own cost because they were too expensive. Soon I will be getting milk for my family's consumption and commercial purposes. I also managed to build a new house because the previous one was very small. It could not fit some of my family members and they had to seek shelters from their friends. Thus is all settled now courtesy of GiveDirectly.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in almost all sectors. This is because the organization has changed how we used to live in the village. We now have access to good shelter, sending our children to school, starting businesses and owning livestock. We have finally overcome what has been a challenge for all those years. I don't think there is any sector GD failed.

I spent part of my second transfer on buying on paying school fees for my children who are both in primary and secondary at a total of KES 10000. I had to pay in advance to avoid them being sent home every now and then. I then buy some building materials such as building poles and some few iron sheets and some timber worthy of KES 20000. This was for the completion of my house which I had initially started constructing using the first transfers. The remaining amount of money, I bought some enough foodstuffs for my family because it has been long since we could harvest.

Before the coming of GiveDirectly, I was sleeping on old rags and using a traditional bed. It was not comfortable using these kind of beddings since they were old and worn-out. I could not however afford to buy new ones due to the financial hardship I was going through. Thus when I received my first transfer, my life has completely changed because I managed to purchase a new wooden bed and a mattress and replaced them. I now have better beddings to enjoy a comfortable sleep unlike before, which makes it to be the biggest difference in my daily life.

I have not been able to change my beddings for many years despite being old and worn-out due to some financial constraints. When I received the transfer, I spent KES 11000 to purchase a new bed and a mattress, which I am currently sleeping on comfortably. I also bought a heifer at KES 14000 which I am also keeping in my homestead. My greatest expectation is that it will mature, reproduce and have many more. Apart from these, I also spent KES 7300 to purchase 16 pieces of iron sheets. I want to renovate the roof of my house since it is grass thatched and leaking during rains. I also spent KES 3000 to pay for my children's school fees for them to comfortably continue with their studies. I spent the remaining amount to buy some daily foodstuffs for my family as well as paying for other household expenses.
