Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in the forest packing charcoal for my customers. I had left my phone at home since I fear losing it due to the nature of my work. I was away Until 10 am when I returned home to switch my phone on. I noticed two strange messages from the Segovia technology indicating that I had received my transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt very happy about receiving my transfer since it was an opportunity to fulfill my long-term goals in my life.

Owning livestock is the biggest difference In my life. Previously, I did not have any investment for my children's education something that makes my kids constantly sent home for fees a thing that bothers me a lot.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 15,000 to purchase 5 goats this was to accomplish my goal of owning livestock a future investment for my kid's educational needs. I also used KES 2000 to clear the fee balances of my two children who are still in primary school. Similarly, I bought one pair of school uniforms for each one of them. Previously, they were going to school in casual clothes unlike the pupils, I was very ashamed whenever I escort them to school every day. Furthermore, I bought a bed and mattress for KES 10,000 this is because I was using old rags as beddings which were uncomfortable. With the remaining amount, I bought sufficient food and water because we are experiencing drought and famine in our area.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have been dreaming to start a food vending business in our nearby shopping center for 6 years but my dream has never been successful because of luck of enough money to start the business. Our nearby shopping centre has potential customers for starting a food canteen because there is a school near by, some shops and charcoal business men of which I believe these are already potential customers. Receiving this money means I will fulfill my dream of doing a food business in my nearby shopping center so that I can grow myself and kick out poverty in my home. I have the expirience as a food vender because I was once employed in a cafe.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My husband secured a casual job with Mombasa maize meals for 3 months and I got a chance of having money in my house but after 3 months , the contract was over and I am currently using what he earned but I fear the situation will change because my husband is now jobless.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity is a big challenge in my house. My husband is unemployed and getting the daily bread is a big problem and sometimes I have to go to bed without food. Dressing and attending medical cases is a big problem in my house and also getting water for drinking is currently the biggest challenge because there is no water in the nearby water pans and getting water for drinking needs to hire motorcycle operators which cost 100 KES for a 20 liters jerican.
