In the coming years and beyond, my strategy will involve saving a larger portion of the profits from my tomato farming endeavors. Furthermore, I have intentions to sell a portion of the goats that I've invested in. This strategic move is aimed at accumulating sufficient funds that will enable me to purchase a fertile acre of land, ideally located near a river. This choice of land will facilitate irrigation practices, which are crucial for optimizing crop yield. Owning the land will also provide me with the freedom to engage in farming without the constraints of leasing and the associated expenses, as well as the restrictions imposed by a landowner on usage.

What stands out for me regarding GiveDirectly is their practice of directly transferring funds to the recipients' personal accounts. This direct approach eliminates the involvement of third parties and the need for recipients to go through intermediaries to receive the promised assistance. This not only enhances the security of the process but also ensures the privacy and confidentiality of the recipients' information.

Recognizing the favorable climatic conditions for goat rearing in our area, leading to rapid multiplication and consistent market demand, I strategically invested $350 to acquire ten additional goats, adding to the six I previously obtained through a prior transfer. My intention for them is to reproduce over time, potentially leading to profitable sales that can contribute to my larger goal of acquiring a more suitable parcel of land. Currently, the land I possess lacks productivity due to its distance from the river, hampering irrigation efforts that are vital in our region due to limited rainfall. I used the remaining amount to lease a one-acre land for cultivating tomatoes, a venture I have experience with and know to be lucrative. I do this for commercial purposes to generate sustainable income and enhance the well-being of my family and support future plans.

With my venture into goat farming, the current piece of land that I currently own is not big enough to accommodate this practice. I therefore hope to buy an extra acre of land around my home which will ensure that the goats have a field to graze. I also hope to improve my financial stability and both the farming and my wife's business will hopefully help me achieve this.

I loved that the transfers are sent straight to the recipients personal Mpesa account as compared to other organisations that we hear about where one has to go get anything promised from a third party. this ensures safety and confidentiality. Givedirectly aslo keeps their word on when to receive the transfers as they are prompt, therefore any plans made depending on the transfers goes accordingly. Everything in my opinion was well done. My only wish is that if Givedirectly could come back to our villages to check on how we are progressing after say two years and if possible give additional funds.
