Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Given my age, I no longer have the physical strength to look for grass for renovating my house. I had longed to construct an iron roofed house because it doesn't require renovation but I totally lacked funds even to start up the construction. However, when I got money from GiveDirectly I acquired construction material that I used to build an iron roofed house which is currently at the roofing level. I plan to complete my house with the second transfer and I will be in position to shift in it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I recieved my money, I was overwhelmed by joy because I knew that my plan to construct an iron roofed house was going to be attained.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to purchase construction materials( 3 trips of bricks, 2 trips of sand, 10 pieces of iron sheets, 10 bags of cement, timber) and paying construction workers.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one I have is grass thatched but maintaining it is so hard now especially at my age.
Grass is hard to find due to it's scarcity.
I also hope to buy beddings using this same money.
The ones that I currently use are very old.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the morning when my wife and I wake up healthy.
We are able to work happily.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen that would support in farming.
All that I had was given out to the in-laws as bride price at the time when my sons married.
I have never had the opportunity to replace them because I don't have money to do so.
Cultivation is just hard.
I use a simple hoe if I need to plant anything.
I can only plant less which in return gives less harvest.
Shortage of food has always been the end result.
