How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
No, I do not have any new goal that I can talk of so far because the major one which was to own goats was accomplished. I had the urge to own them for a long but I couldn't afford them because my income was very low and I had a lot to fulfill in my household. I am glad that for now, I have an investment that I can rely on in case of any financial hardships.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did a good job which has is incomparable to the other organization. We received the support in form of money which was the most outstanding. Also, no one was restricted from purchasing the items they needed in their household. I, therefore, do not see any sector that GiveDirectly needs to work on.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying twelve goats worthy of KES 30000. I have desired to have them but they were relatively costly. I opted for them because as compared to other domestic animals, they reproduce twice a year, and their offspring mature very fast. This is an assurance that I will have many of them within a short period of them. Later on, I later cleared fees arrears for my seven children who are both in seven and primary schools respectively. I am glad that they are now studying peacefully with fewer disturbances. With the remaining amount of money, I bought foodstuffs for my family and other household items like clothes for the kids.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was awakened by the loud vibration from my mobile phone at around 7 AM. Without wasting time, I quickly checked its content and realized it as an Mpesa message from Segovia Technology. I was so happy I was not sure if I would get the money as promised. I knew my life will definitely change positively and after sharing the good news with my children they couldn't contain their joy as well. I always thank God every day for making me eligible for this program becsue I will achieve a lot from this cash.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The fact that I was able to expand my business is evidence enough that my life has changed. The shop was my major source of income since my spouse is doesn't have a temporary job. However, it reached a time when we consumed all the profits because my needs were more than the source of income. With the nine family members proving for their basic needs was not that easy at all. With all those struggles, I had to close down the shop of the huge debts. I am so thankful to GiveDirectly for the financial support because there is now hope for the business to be successful. It is now doing well since there is enough stock. I no longer strain in paying school fees and cater to other basic needs for my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have desired to invest in livestock because this is the only way I can save my money to earn a profit when they multiply. I, therefore, I intend to start with 10 goats that will cost me $300 of my first transfer. The remaining amount of my first transfer helps me to cater for food expenses and other household needs. $ 400-second transfer will help me to pay the school fees of my children at secondary school and the remaining amount I will use it to boost my small business of selling chapatis and vegetables .
What is the happiest part of your day?
Morning is the happiest part of my day waking up healthy despite all life challenges it gives me hope and joy for a better future.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial Crisis is the biggest challenge that I have ever faced. I am an unskilled person getting a good job to sustain my family 9 is a challenge to me. The small business that I do earns me little profit. I majorly depend on my husband who does casual labor a job that is tiresome and earns him a little amount of $3 per day. This amount can not fully sustain all the basic needs of the family. This has led to my children been send out of school to collect school fees, thus leading to their low performance in school.
