How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Prior to receiving this cash transfers, my children were often sent back home for school fees balance because I couldn't afford settling theirs fees at once. Upon recieving these transfers from GiveDirectly, I was in position to pay my children's fees for two terms that has given me a peace of mind and enough time to look for fees for the remaining terms. In addition, we bought a motorbike as a family that generates daily income that supports us with feeding, children's education and medical treatment which were challenging previously because we didn't have a stable source of income.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to give me financial support that I used for paying my children's school fees. GiveDirectly has not done any thing bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to pay school fees for my children, purchased 2 matresses, utensils, clothes, beedsheets and foodstuffs. I have not yet spent UGX 470,000 but I am planning to spent it for purchasing a cow.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that, I have bought a motorbike that has eased movements for my household members. It is also going to generate income for the family through the BodaBoda business. Additionally, I managed to pay my children's school fees. Prior to receiving transfer, we could go any where we wanted to on foot no matter the distance. My children were sent back home because they had not cleared school fees. I thank God for GiveDirectly and ask him to bless those who donated their money to save poor people like us.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer, I felt so happy. My mind was relaxed, sleep disappeared because of too much happiness.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used UGX 1,300,000 of my first transfer for buying a second hand bajaj motorcycle to ease movements for my family members. I paid school fees worth UGX 250,000, bought some medicine, clothes, curtains and food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy a piece of land and oxen that will support in cultivation, a motorcycle that will ease movement, household items and take care of the education needs of my children. I believe my household will not remain the same.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the morning when I wake up healthy. I am thankful to God for his protection.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money. As such, I have not been able to buy land and oxen which would really help in averting poverty. I can not cultivate as expected because, the piece of land that I have is very small and what really worsens it is lack of oxen. I have always wanted to buy oxen but yet I don't have the capacity to do so. I don't have any source of income. All I do is casual labour and some times sell off part of the harvested food to raise money.
