How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously, I had a very small house that could hardly accommodate my large family. Whenever it rained, we would be worried that the house might fall in on us. Thanks!GiveDirectly for enabling me to buy building materials that I used in building a new house. I now have a beautiful house and I can brag about it in the village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, they have elevated me from a low point to a higher level. Previously, I had no voice when I was with my peers as I did not own my own house. I have a house now and I could not be happier. I have a solar panel, that means I am saving the money I use in buy kerosene which goes on other needs the family has.
Give Directly does not do anything wrong. They are only striving to make our lives better.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the transfer on buying a solar panel for home lighting. This has helped scare away burglars who would want to break in during the night. I also bought building materials like iron sheets, poles, nails and timber to build a new house as I had a small house that could not accommodate my growing family. I also bought livestock for rearing for sale later and as financial security for my family. I also used part of it to pay school fees for my child who had been sent home to clear the outstanding fee balance. I am glad that my life has changed tremendously, Thanks to GiveDirectly for their transfers.
