My life is now different in that I can keep my children in school. I had no means to pay for their school fees. I can now keep them in school and be able to pay for their school fees in future, with the proceeds from milk that I will receive from the cow that I will purchase with the transfers. I am grateful to Give Directly.

Give Directly has done well to enable my children to continue with their education. My children can now stay in school because of the transfers I received. I had no property to sell to keep my children in school. I am happy Give Directly has assisted me in this way. I have not seen anything that Give Directly has not done well.

I spent my second transfer to purchase a cow for commercial purposes, to pay school fees for my children and buy them books for schools, and also to pay for a debt of 12000 KES that I owed a local Sacco in my village. I had acquired a loan of 58700 KES in the month of June in the year 2017, after I lost all my cows from drought. I had 38 cows which all died as a result of drought we were facing in my village. I acquired this loan to acquire more cows as they would assist me in production of milk for sale, so I could be able to sustain and feed my family. My pending loan since then was this amount of 12000 KES. I paid back this amount so I could be in a position to get another loan in future if I ever needed one.

The biggest difference that this transfer has brought into my life is that I am now building a stable house for my sons and that I've bought an ox-plough which will relieve me from the burden of borrowing or hiring at a cost.

The moment I saw the message from GD, I was filled with joy in my heart and at least I could afford a laughter after many days of sorrows. I felt a tinge of happiness coming out of my heart after I confirmed that indeed I had received the amount as promised by GiveDirectly.

I spent my first transfer to purchase building materials to build a house for my sons who had attained the age of majority and could not be allowed by the customary law to sleep under one roof with me, the parent. The struggle that they went through after their house collapsed due to heavy rains could not allow me not to acquire them another house. Besides that, I also purchased six goats for rearing until they acquire enough weight to fetch tangible money when sold. This will help meet the school fee need for my children in the future. I also bought an ox- plough for my oxen since I didn't have before which left me with a hard task and shame of frequent borrowing from the neighbour. I am happy that I will nolonger undergo this struggle.
