How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that, I'm now sleeping in permanent house which I built using the cash transfers. Before these transfers, I slept in thatched house. Thanks to GiveDirectly for making my dream come true.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased bricks worth UGX 800000 and cement worth UGX 58000. I also spent UGX 400000 to purchase iron sheets and UGX 269000 to purchase timber. I paid the builder with the remaining cash transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The mobile money message got me asleep. However, early in the morning one of my siblings called me and inquired if I had received any mobile money message. I checked my account and I was amazed at what I had seen. I was happy because my entire life I had never touched such an amount of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have witnessed a very great change because my house is now at the roofing level. I am happy that the GiveDirectly cash transfer has made this dream come true. For the past 36 years I have lived in a grass thatched house with no hopes of ever living in an iron roofed house. Nevertheless, I am very grateful that I have built a twp roomed iron roofed house and my life is now better.
