What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer 1,200,000 ugx on completing payment of the land I had started buying with token transfer. I also bought goats at 204,000 ugx and the balance to feed my family and shop for Christmas.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD has done well by helping the poor people financially there by changing our life styles which were very low. For example, people are able to build, start up income generating activities like opening up of shops, buying motorbikes among others. I was also able to acquire my own land.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I had never received the transfer, I would still be like other poor people in the village but I am happy that I am able to acquire my own land, feed my family during the drought period.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy two gardens, solar lamp for lighting, two goats, and then I also bought clothes for myself,my wife and for my children. I am keeping part of this money for my daily survival like feeding and medical upkeep.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received this money,I became so happy,I received this message alerting me that I had received mobile money at night and I was too excited that I failed to sleep untill morning.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life now is that my family is now feeding well,we dont miss meals, atleast we can afford to buy Posho and beans and even change diet, once in a while we eat meat, unlike before we used to skip meals and eat once a day,it was very difficult to change diet, my family was only eating cassava bread and greens everday. I now own two gardens where I do farming, before receiving this money I used to hire a garden to do farming and this was not producing enough food for the family. My family generally is happy, because now basic needs are met unlike before even clothing was so poor and feeding was poor.
