What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
The first installment we want to clean our house , build a new roof buy other materials we need like matress , beds , food to eat and the balance we want to pay for school fees for our children. The second installment we plan to buy livestocks , we want to buy a cow for $250 and the balance we want to start a new business of selling banana. Receiving this money means coming out of poverty and living better, we will be able to generate some income from the new business and pay for an education for our children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When we heard that our son Gakuru got married we were so happy because we have gained a daughter in law and she comes frequently to help us out. And being able to pay for the education of our daughter Rose and seing her perform well in school brings us hope that she will have a bright future.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Not having enough land to cultivate is our main challenge we have to work for others to be able to get money to rent a land to produce what to eat and pay for school fees for our children. And my daughter Agnes had to drop out of school because we can only afford school fees for one. Getting fertiliser is not easy , we have to herd livestock for others to be able to get fertiliser to use and we are not able to get money to buy inorganic fertiliser.
