How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Prior to receiving these transfers, I rised my children's school fees by selling agriculturalproduce that I had and when the harvest is that good, I could get debts or sell livestock. Having received my money from GiveDirectly, I was in position to pay schools for two terms for my 8 children which has given an ample time to look for school fees for the coming terms without them dropping out of school. In addition, I have acquire an ox that helps me with ploughing. I expect increased yields because agriculture has been made easier, I can now plant on a large scale which harvest will help me with children's education.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me finacial support that helped me with my children's education. GiveDirectly has not done anything bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfer to pay for my children's education, bought an ox, foodstuffs and renovating the 2 doors of my house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I live a happy life and feel relieved because I cleared the school fees balances that had me thinking day and night. I wasn't settled because my children could soon be sent home anytime not until arrears are cleared. Secondly, I was able to give my children a decent and modest accommodation. They are no longer being bothered by bed bugs and dust since I floored and plastered their house. Lastly we can afford three meals day because I stocked enough food in the house. Prior to receiving this transfer, we barely had two meals and some days we survived on porridge the whole day. Therefore we had a poor diet which affected our health.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The day I received this money, I was full of happiness and joy. I told my wife that GD has honoured their pledge and we jubilated. I told my wife that, our children can now stay in school because it was a matter of time they going to sent home since I had fees arrears.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer the following ways, first of all I had school fees arrears for my children. So when I got this money, I paid off all fees balances. My children were sleeping in an incomplete iron roofed house that was very dusty and bed bugs dwelt in it. There was urgency to floor and plaster it such they sleep happily. I ferried materials and paid the mansion for his labour. The remaining money I used to stock food since we were hit by famine. My family had a single meal a day therefore the productivity was very low since the body is not well fed.

Receiving this money will mean that I will be able to pay my children's school fees, engage on a more productive crop cultivation and animal rearing. After my children attaining education, that will be able to be responsible citizens in future and the animals will be an investment for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the evening when I have completed a day's work. I seat down and reflect on my achievments for the day and hence celebrate about it.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Paying school fees for my children is the biggest hardship I face. I have ten children that are pursuing primary, secondary and tertiary education and paying their school fees has a limited source.
