How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Receiving money from GD is something I never imagined. This was an awesome opportunity and made me think of creating new goals in life. I quickly thought of starting livestock production. I bought 2 goats. In a village set-up, goats are securities in times of need. I can easily sell to cover any need. I also thought of building a house. I am talking, my house is almost finished. I am only remaining with the roof. The money indeed game me new thoughts.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The program is very helpful. People have managed to build houses, pay school fees and buy food. I think GD is doing very well in reaching out to everyone in the village. The amount of money given is also huge to improve someone's life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my last transfer to build a house. I have been desiring to build a bigger and a better house. I bought all needed materials such as iron sheets, wires and timber. I also bought 5 bags of maize for food processing. I have been struggling with hunger in the past. I also did have enough kitchen utensils such that I could borrow to my neighbor whenever I receive a visitor. When I received my transfer, I bought enough pots, plates, spoons and water buckets. I also used the money to start livestock production and I bought 2 goats. I also have saved part of the money to pay a carpenter who will do the roofing of my house.
