Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that I have been able to pay school fees for my children who are at boarding schools. I was worried before and thought that my children would have to sit home and fail to complete the third term. Previously, I depended entirely on agriculture which could not sort all the school fees at once. I know that GiveDirectly would give me this onetime opportunity. I am really blessed and very grateful for this cash transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I became very happy at that moment when I read the mobile money message. I needed money to sort out my children's school fees.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the cash transfer to pay school fees worth UGX 600000. I bought bricks worth UGX 600000 and I spent transport worth UGX 230000. I bought a mattress worth UGX 170000 and a bed worth UGX 100000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to build iron-roofed house for my family. I currently sleep in a grass thatched house that rats destroy each and every year. This has proved costly to maintain since it requires a lot of energy and money. An iron roofed house will definitely cut some costs and my family may easily manage to save money for educating the children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest moments is always afternoon hours. Iam able to save and borrow some money that sustains the needs of my family members.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of money for educating my children. My two children are studying in a private school called preparatory, though is good with performance but Iam failing to raise school fees. The two children some times are sent home and is affecting their academic performance.
