What does receiving this money mean to you?
My main concern has always been the number of people staying in this small hut. It is not spacious enough but we live in it because we have no choice. in addition, my twin sister and I have always tried our best to feed the kids after our marriages ended. Therefore, it is a relief to be enrolled into this program as this will assist us in many ways especially to have enough food and also build a better house. I am also going to sit down and decide with my sister on what business can we start so that we should be supporting the kids better. The rest will go towards buying other necessary household items such as mattress so as to sleep better at night and also food preparation utensils. The money has also given us fees for next term when these kids are starting school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. Most of the days we rarely eat mornings and afternoons, this gives me time to make sure we eat in the evening after spending the whole day looking for food and other opportunities to earn money and buy food. When we have food , I am a happy person.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am a standard eight primary school dropout and all I have ever known was to depend on a husband when I get married. When my marriage ended, we became desperate like never before and most of the times we sleep with empty stomachs. I still do my best by farming in the hills nearby and also some business when I find some capital but these are never enough. It's a bit better now that we are in the harvesting season. Hence, the biggest hardship most of the times is lack of enough food.
