How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different because I am happier than before. I normally remind myself that without GiveDirectly I would not be where I am today economically. At times I wake up at night to think of how kind GD has been to us and this makes me happy. The funds brought hope that there is a better life and I am optimistic.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
Our new goal is buy a piece of land. We plan to plant maize for consumption because we normally have shortage of maize and if we plant some we will not run out of food supply. We are currently paying for the land bit by bit and I believe we will pay it off eventually. Our ancestral land is too small for farming.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Thank you GiveDirectly for the funds. Things had been hard for us before we received the transfer. The biggest difference in my daily life is the hope that I have for a better life. I see the calves in our compound and it is a motivation to expect better days ahead. We did not have those before and we are happy about this.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my economic status to be better in the next six months. We plan to plant some crops and get a harvest for sufficient meals and perhaps some surplus for sale and an income for us.
