How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life has been good since I received the transfers from Give Directly. I am happy because I have been able to buy two bulls for ploughing. This will help me to save time as well as reduce farming expenses and increase my farm yield. I used to hire cows for ploughing my farm, which was expensive. I prepared my farm late because I had to wait for others to till their land. I also build a pit latrine in my homestead and I therefore, no longer releave my self in the bush while responding to the call of nature.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done good to empower people in the village. I have seen peoples' lives being transformed. Some have built houses, bought livestock and invested in motorcycles. Personally, I spent the first transfer in buying two bulls purposely to aid me in ploughing. Initially, I mostly depended on hired ones which were very expensive. I also build a pit latrine which i didn't have in my homestead. I used to releave myself in bush and this made me feel ashamed. In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done more good than bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have withdrawn 52000 from my Mpesa account and I am still planning on how I will spend this second transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The transfer has brought many changes into my daily life. initially, I didn't own even a single livestock but thanks to GiveDirectly, for now, I have a pair of oxen to aid in my farming and early land preparation since timing is important in my area due to unreliable rainfall.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The time I saw the message notifying me of receiving my transfer I felt happy and I rejoiced in my heart for this gift which will improve and take me to another level of life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy a pair of oxen so as to enable me to undertake my farming effectively and ensure timely cultivation. Before then, I was using small tools that were not user-friendly due to the high energy they required but now cultivation has been simplified and will be much easier. I also spent part of my transfer to buy iron sheets and cement in order to construct a 10ft permanent toilet since the one I was using before was just a temporary one. As we speak, the toilet is ready for use.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a huge step towards empowerment and progressive development that will boost the well-being of my family. As a single mother of two, the thought of receiving Gd transfers alone gives me joy and hope.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening , reason being, am under little pressure and most chores have been completed. I get time to interact with my friends and family, and that gives me joy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I've faced in my life is lack of adequate resources to provide basic needs and quality education to my children. As a sole family provider, it has always been difficult to raise school fee for my two children who are in secondary school. I depend on government sponsorships like CDF in most cases.
