How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different as now I have cows and I can complete building my house. I never imagined I would own cows or even a better house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has done well in giving us money and giving us the choice to spend the money in our areas of need. We all have unique needs and we know best how this money will assist us. It was nice that we were not required to spend this money on any given instruction. I have not seen anything that Give Directly has done wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer to complete building my house. I had earlier on begun building my house but the construction had to stop because I did not have enough funds. I had begun building even before I received my first transfer. I also invested part of my first transfers to continue building the house. I was happy with the second transfers because finally I can complete building my house and live in a better surrounding with my family. Initially, I lived in an old mud house with my family, that was not even spacious. My husband is a casual laborer who does any available jobs in the village for an income. I have no income myself. We have lived a life of struggles. I am grateful to Give Directly that now our lives can change. We live in a better house, and we now own livestock.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I had never thought of owning even a single cow in my life since my dream of buying one was shattered due to financial constraints, so to me getting these cows is the greatest achievement that I've ever had. Thanks to GiveDirectly for changing my life for good and of my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I was overwhelmed with joy and full of happiness. I calmed down and began thinking of how I will spend this transfer to change my life and it was a reality that indeed I had recieved such an amount of money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I've been buying milk from my neighbours daily and this was expensive for me. The huge bills would sometimes force me to cut the supply of milk to my household. Am happy that the transfer has enabled me to buy three cows which will provide milk for my household and also I will be able to sell to earn an income. This will also help me reduce budgetary expenses for my family. I am also hopeful that they will multiply as time goes by and in the near future, I will be owning a herd and which will create an opportunity for me to sell them at a profit and invest in other viable projects. I also purchased some medicines to keep a medical kit for them to treat them against some common infections and reduce chances of incurring other medicinal expenses later on.
