What did you spend your third transfer on?
When I received my third transfer, I enrolled my 2 children in a secondary school-they had passed their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education but I never had money to take them to a secondary school and therefore this money reached me a the right time and offered me such a great help.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if you never received the transfer because I have become a great maize, sorghum and groundnuts producer in my community. I managed this since when I received transfer, I mechanized my farms, expanded them and incorporated fertilizer-it could not be possible if not transfers from Give Directly and I am happy that I am now more food secure and again, my income has increased as a result of this. I am also happy that through this money, my children are able to pursue their dreams in life, taking various subjects in secondary school.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, what Give Directly does well is that it conducts research and targets the real poorest but it never did adequate civic education which led to high non-participation rates.

What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on buying sand and cement and plastering my house. I then bought an ox for ploughing and a cow which I will be keeping for milk. I also paid school fee for my children and used the rest in buying new bedding and food for my children.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that my children are never sent home for school fee because using the transfers I have been able to pay their school fee in full.

What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to start a small hotel business, I will therefore need to buy some items like cookers, utensils, a juice blender and some furniture for the hotel. I also need to dig a borehole for my family and finally reactivate an account of mine which has been dormant at a local bank.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is having been able to educate most of my children up to secondary school level and some of my sons have already gotten married and they now have jobs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I face right now is lack of enough money to pay school fees for my children especially those who have lost their mothers. I fear that they may have to defer their studies if I am unable to raise the required fees.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening because I have usually finished most of the tasks I had planned for the day and can relax with my family.
