Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was helping one of neighbors to dobbs his house when my wife came to me with the phone that GiveDirectly gave me for me to read the message in the phone. I washed my hands and opened the inbox massage. The amount I saw in the phone was unbelievable. I shouted blood of Jesus because this is the first time in my life to see this amount of money. To receive forty thousand three hundred seventy five dollars free without working for it is a heaven sent opportunity. That hold day the smile on my face could not finish and my wife was dancing until she went back to the house after I told her that the message that came to the phone is the payment from GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Through the transfer, I am constructing a new house which the roof will be cover with zinc. The thatch cutting every year has actually been hectic for me. When I am through with the construction of the new house, at least I will feel relieved of cutting tatch every year. I will no longer have to travel that far distance in the bush to cut thatch. In addition, I sleep these days comfortably because for the first time in my life I have mattress in my room. I feel so happy for this opportunity and I am going to make a maximum use of it.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy zinc and other building materials to commence the construction of a new house. I was also able to buy one mattress to be lying down on it. Farming has been my source of income. The last farming year I was unable to make farm because my wife was not well and I had to take her to the hospital for treatment. I thank God for GiveDirectly coming to this community because I was left no money after my wife sickness.
