My life currently has really changed compared to how it was in the past four months. I have been doing a lot of things at ease due to the consistent support I have been getting form GiveDIrectly. These monthly transfers have enabled me to pay school fees for my children with an ease, source household foodstuff without any difficulty and also maintain the supply of all household's needs without debts in the shops as it used to be before. Life generally has really changed and we can now afford a smile which was so rare in our household during past tough times.

Despite all the plans and goals I have been set, there is this one goal which has been part of me as long as I still have some children schooling - the payment of school fees. As the opening dates draw closer, it is the call of every parent to devise means of sourcing school fees for their children. This to me is a new goal at the moment and for the next four months before the third term in school comes to an end.

After purchasing milk every day for a very long time in our household. I decided to start saving so that I can buy my own cow. It has been a month now since I bought a heifer which I am now rearing in our farm. It is my joy that I have finally achieved what I have always dreamt of since life without milk for my children has really been hard. Looking at other projects that I have been handling over that period, this so far is the biggest difference in my daily life. It has given me hope that in the near future we will be having enough milk serve the household need and also a surplus for sale to earn us some income.

Currently, my second born daughter is a candidate in the nearby primary school. Soon she will be sitting for her KCSE and I am optimistic that she will be joining the secondary school. For every parent that means more school fees have to be paid in that next level of education. I now have a plan to revive the family saving plan which we had in our household which I expect to have accumulated a good sum of money in the next six months. This is a plan to keep up with the payment of the school fees timeline which has always existed in the secondary schools whenever students are joining.

Making a comparison with the past few months, we are way too better than where we have come from. There is really a big difference from now and the past four months since we had a lot of difficulty in meeting the basic household needs but at the moment we are at ease and we can say that we are getting anything we need when we want.

Before GiveDirectly came in, we were owning two cows and a heifer. The cows were not productive enough to serve the needs of our household and thus we could not sell much of the milk produced. When we received the first transfer, we decided to join a group of other villagers who were doing table banking. we started contributing for the same and when our turn came we received 26000 KES. On receiving such a large amount, we had two ideas in mind that we needed to implement; one was to purchase another productive cow, and two to use the remaining amount in starting a poultry project. We did exactly that and with time we were selling milk like any other person who had good cows in the village. We thank God that we had enough fields for them to feed on. We also had our poultry project running at then and we were really hopeful of the outcome which really impressed us after some months. Since milk production have been earning us enough income to run a lot of activities in our household, we have a new goal to add another milk-producing cow so that we may increase the production as to maintain that poultry farming.

Trying to meet all the family needs had never been easy until GiveDirectly came in. It was a real toil and moil in order to make ends meet. Those were the days when the youngest of my children could cry pushing to be provided with what she saw in the neighbor's home but it could not happen. I had to hold small talks with her trying my best to make her understand that we didn't have what it took to own all that. All we were working for and hoping to get every day was the "daily bread" and any other thing was a luxury to us. Nowadays we have taken a great leap and can at least afford what we used to see other people enjoying. We decided to start a poultry farming project which has always kept us smiling and wanting to do more. The project has seen us supply enough eggs to the nearby shopping center and also serve the immediate community whenever they want good breeds of chicken. In the next six months, I am hopeful that I will be having the fifth cow on our farm. With the plans that I have to increase milk production, I see myself rearing as much as five cows based on the size of the field. I am trying as much as possible to see that I produce enough milk to pay school fees for my kids who are now in primary school. I thank God for this far that He has brought us since we really started at a very low note.

The biggest difference in my life is that I am able to pay my children's school without having to struggle and overwork. I am also able to plan myself well to ensure that my children stay well with enough basic needs and still save some money for future use.

I am planning to buy a dairy cow for rearing. I want to increase the amount of milk that I sellb in order to improve the income from it. The cow will also reproduce and in the future I am sure I will have a herd of cattle just like my neighbors.

The biggest difference in my dailh life is that we always plan and have enough food for us unlike before when it was sometimes so hard to have enough for a day. I am also less worried nowdays about my school going children because the transfers allows me to pay school fees in installments whenever I receive the transfer. This has ensured that my children study well.

I expect that in the next six months, my lifestyle and that of my family would have improved from how it is now. Right now, as much as I am able to provide for my family, I pray that more good things would come my way especially with the savings I am keeping apart. I expect to add another cow to the herd that I have.
