How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal is to complete the construction of my house. My house becomes uncomfortable for me during the rainy season because the roof of my house no longer holds the rain waters. I have really been wishing to have a new and decent house built but getting the money do it has been a challenge for me. With the opportunity given me by GiveDirectly by transferring this amount of money to me, my focus now is to complete the construction of my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by visiting every household in the community to determine their eligiblity. In this way no household that is to be enrolled is left out. Moreover, the decision on how to spend my transfer is left with me as a recipient. No one tells me how to spend my money. I have not seen anything that GiveDirectly is doing wrongly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first transfer to buy three bundles of zinc, nails, and planks. Portion of the second transfer was used to buy cement and additional bundle of zinc and the balance was used to pay a builder. Things has really been difficult for me as farming is the only source of livelihood for my family and I. I thank the almighty God for this one time in life opportunity.
