How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My family and I have been living in a very deplorable house for long time now. And it is my usual goal of constructing a comfortable house for my family and I. For many years, We have been finding it very difficult to renovate our house, because of no money to do so. Frustratingly for us, our previous house got broken down during the last year raining season. However, when I started to receive transfers from GiveDirectly, I have decided to build a new house for the comfort of my family and I. I am so much happy for GD cash transfer program, cause it has helped me a lot to have a better future home.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion,GiveDirectly have been working tirelessly to put smiles on we the poor people faces snd upgrade our lives. We are grateful to them forever. They have done nothing wrong to me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc for the construction of a new house and spent a portion of this last transfer to fund the burial of my mother. Years round, it has not been easy on my family and I. There has been no money to renovate our house, since we lost our house to the storm during the raining season. I am really grateful to God for GD reaching my village. From this last transfer received, I was able to purchase additional zinc start my new house construction. I also bought food and saved my remaining transfer to enable me pay the contractors that are constructing my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
From 2016 to up to 2020, I was selling cold storage fish with support from my late husband. The main purpose of me engaging into business was to help my late husband at the time to build our house and to send our daughter to school. Out of a sudden, my husband died, thus making things difficult for me and my daughter. Since last year I have been out of business and things continue to get difficult by the day. I only get help from my mother. If I'm blessed to benefit from Give Directly cash transfer program, I will restart my business, build my house and send my daughter to school with the rest.
What is the happiest part of your day?
For the past months I have been living with greeve because of the way life continues to go with us. Today I am much happier and hopeful that if GD comes in with this expected help, things will get back on course as it used to be before.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My major challenge is money. As I speak to you, the room I currently live in with my daughter is leaking and there is no money for renovation. It is difficult to get food for my kid and me. We are only surviving by the help of my mother.
