What does receiving this money mean to you?
Currently, I am not in school because of finance. I am from a very poor family background. Could you imagine, I was promoted to class 8 since 2016, since that time, I have never entered classroom. My spouse is a motorcyclist but the bike he is riding is not our own bike, he too grasuated from secondary school even before we came together in January 2020 but has not been about to advice his education at the university level. We both came here with one goal ( to generate finance to enable us continue our education). I am not sitting and depending on him to look for the money, myself I on my feet everyday on the various mining sits selling provisions goods to enable us meet our potential. Currently, we are depositing our little earnings in saving and we hope of withdrawing 80,000 at the end of the year. I feel ashamed to even visit my home because all my peers are now out of secondary school and some are even attending universities. Therefore, when I am eligible to receive this cash grant from GiveDirectly, I will my transfer towards my education which will transform my future because my dream is to become a doctor.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiness come every evening when I see my spouse returned safely from the traffic because transportation with motorcycle is very dangerous. He is my only relative here and his safety matters to me a lot.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
See the structure we are currently dwelling in, it is because we came here to look for money and we don't have the cash to renovate this house. I dropped out of of school because my parents are poor and that is why I am here living such deplorable lives, has my parents been living at least a fourth class lives, I would have been enrolled at a university now. So my main challenge now is finance to educate myself. I will be very proud to see myself back in school and I believe that is why God sent GiveDirectly here to enable me achieve my dream of becoming a doctor
