How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I do not have a continuous source of income. I do small scale farming and the casual jobs in the village. The amount of money that I could get from this was so small and could not meet all the basic household items including paying school fees for my children in various schools. When I received the second transfer I bought a dairy cow. I no longer buy milk because I have enough for my family.I sell the surplus at the market to earn an income to pay the school fees.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on buying a Dairy cow. I used to buy milk and it was so costly for me. I also paid school fees for my two children in secondary. Their performance improved so much becuase they were not sent home. The rest of the money I bought food and clothes. I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has changed our living standard.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited and I was then sure of my dream coming true of buying a tank.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
We get water from very far and I therefore decided to buy a water tank to harvest rain water. This way I will not have to walk a long distance to fetch water and I can therefore use that time to do other productive work.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means it will assist me to pay school fees for my 4 children who are in secondary education and others are in college. We have been depending mainly on subsistence farming to cater for this and the yield somethings has not been that good due to certain disease that destroyed them.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is the evening. It is at this time because God has enable me to wake up healthy and to ready find food for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of enough income is the biggest hardship I have faced in my family. Payment of school fees for my 4 children without stable income is not easy. It needs alot of struggle and in our area securing employment is not easy hence we have been depending on subsistence farming. Sometimes the harvest from this is very little due to bad weather conditions.
