Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goals for the next four months is start a business of grinding maize this is the best opportunity because there is no one which is near our place.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have paid school fees for my children in school. They were able to sit for their exams. I depend on small scale farming to earn an income by selling the produce at the market. I did not have an extra shillings to save. My children would be sent home to collect the school fees and since I did not have money, they could stay at home for long and this was affecting their performance in school I am so happy because they are no longer sent home and their performance has improved compared to the previous term.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in that I will have two sources of income from small scale farming and from the business, this will enable me to pay school fees on time and even meet other basic needs of the family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the economic progress - owning a calf and the poultry pen that I built. Owning livestock is a big progress for us and I am so grateful.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life has already changed but am expectant of better things ahead. Especially paying school fees with ease for my children in secondary school. Without education their lives will not be better than mine. So in the next six months I expect to generate more income from sale of milk and have more livestock. This will give me some financial muscle to pay the fee.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different because I am happy. I got funds to purchase things that I had been desiring to have for so long but couldn't because of lack of funds. The wages we earn from casual work only caters for daily needs hence no economic progress. I am happy because within a short time I have the poultry house because of the availability of funds courtesy of Give Directly.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
The new goal that I have is to buy another cow for milk for sale. I did not have this plan before receiving the funds. Sale of milk will be an added source of income for us.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have in my life is when the Maize Lethal Necrosis disease affected the maize in my farm leading to poor harvests and therefore there was no enough food for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning, this is the time when we take breakfast with my family members and go to the farm to weed maize.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer to buy a dairy cow
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is maize farming, last year I planted maize seeds in half an acre and had a good harvest which I sold and used the money to pay school fees for children who are in secondary school and this makes me proud.
